A reality competition series that has its participants give over their homes to a bunch of other participants so that they can renovate it entirely has just been released. We are here to tell you all about it. Inspired by the original version, the New Zealand spinoff of House Rules is about to drop its Episode 4, so take notes because we will tell you where you can get your hands on the new episode.
The show is simple: the producers have brought over a total of five teams, each with no more than two members, and every week, one house owner from the five teams gives up their house keys and lets their rivals have access to it, for them to renovate it in a time limit of a little over five days.
Every week, a new house will be renovated by the rival teams, and they have to follow certain rules set forth by the house owners. Once done, the house’s interior is judged by a panel of judges that includes successful interior designers and experts, along with the homeowners. Judging on the basis of how much the renovating teams followed the set rules, the scores are given.
House Rules NZ Episode 3: Recap
The producers have a team of five couples, all homeowners living in their run-down spaces, which would get renovated over the course of the show. The five teams include- Jemma and Alvaro, Martinique and Andre, Theresa and Jarrad, Nikita and Sherwen, and finally, Char and Violet.
The judging panel on the show has Michael Murray and Katrina Hobbs, both well-established interior designers. The founder of Good Space, Jade Hurst, is in the series in the role of an advisor and a judge. The entire series is being led by the ever-exciting host, Duncan Heyde.
As mentioned, every week, a new house is renovated, with the homeowners and the judging panel giving out scores on how great the teams did. What motivates the teams and keeps them going is the eventual grand prize set at a whopping $100,000 which the winning team gets to take home.
The good thing about the show is that the teams with the lowest score get left in the finale episode and not in the middle of the show, which means that even if the teams do not win, they at least get their house renovated.
In the last episode, i.e., episode three, it was Jemma and Alvaro, whose house went under renovation. While we are sure the anticipation for them to see their house complete must have been unbearable, the two got to see their house all done, and the smiles and the tears seemed to have said it all.
The episode ended with them giving out scores to the teams who poured their soul into renovating the place. The producers announced that it would be Martinique and Andre going up next, handing over their beautiful 1940s set house to the teams for a makeover.
