House of the Dragon season 2 has arrived after a long wait, and it starts with a shocking act of revenge. Season 1 ended with Rhaenyra discovering her son was killed by her half-brother Aemond, who also prevented her from taking the throne.
Now, Rhaenyra and her allies, known as the Blacks, are furious. In the first episode, Rhaenyra’s husband, Daemon, hatches a horrifying plan. He hires two assassins to sneak into the Red Keep and kill Aemond.
If they can’t find him, they’re ordered to take “a son for a son” – meaning they must kill any male Targaryen they find in the palace. This brutal act sets the stage for a bloody war between the Targaryen factions.
