Hollow Knight: Silksong: Everything We Know
The much-acclaimed 2D Metroidvania Hollow Knight has a sequel in development. The fans have been waiting for the Silksong to come out for about four years now. The developer, Team Cherry, updates the fandom with something about Silksong. Let us discuss everything we know about the Hollow Knight: Silksong.
The plot of Hollow Knight: Silksong will take place in the Kingdom of Pharloom, which is haunted. The Kingdom of Pharloom has two rulers called Silk and Song.
The players will take the role of Hornet. Hornet is the princess-protector of Hallownest, the first game’s primary location. At the start of the game, Hornet will find herself captured by the unknown and brought into the Kingdom of Pharloom. She then has to ascend and reach the top of Pharloom, where she will discover Shining Citadel. There she will learn the reason behind her bringing into the Pharloom. But going up will not be easy for Hornet, as she has to fight against various powerful monsters.
Hollow Knight: Silksong features similar gameplay mechanics from the original Hollow Knight. Silksong will be a Metroidvania game, where the progress unlocks after acquiring a skill. Just like Hollow Knight, Silksong will take place in a haunted place. The main aim of Silksong is Speed.
The main protagonist, Hornet, has a needle that she uses to combat against enemies. The developers have put out details that Hollow Knight: Silksong will feature, or plan to, over 165 different enemies. During her journey, Hornet will also meet many friendly NPCs. These NPCs, just like the predecessors, can give quests to Hornet.
The two other and main features coming from the original Hollow Knight are
- Quest System – NPCs will ask Hornet to complete some quests. Quests are divided into Gather, Hunt, Wayfarer, and Grand Hunt.
- Checkpoint System
Crafting weapons, traps, and tools is a new feature coming in Silksong.
Healing in Silksong is very different. Hornet will use silks to heal herself. Unlike Hollow Knight, Hornet can move and heal. The silk healing will heal three skulls and on top of that instantly. According to the developers, this instantaneous healing will help with their game’s pacing.
Silksong will come with Silk Soul Mode difficulty. This difficulty will result in permanent death. The developers have said that there are other things in Silk Soul Mode, but they did not clarify further.
