Kei Natsumi recently announced that the manga Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei: Iro Tōtoshi-hen will be concluding with its fourth and final compiled volume.
This series, which began on Square Enix’s Gangan Online in June 2023, will wrap up its storyline with the release of this final volume.
The first volume of the manga came out in September 2023, and the third volume was published on August 9.
As the answer arc for the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei series, this manga aims to provide a satisfying resolution to the ongoing story.
This series builds on two other Higurashi manga that started in November 2021. Natsumi’s earlier series, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei: Oni Okoshi-hen, wrapped up in August 2022, while Seigo Tokiya’s Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei: Hoshi Watashi-hen concluded in September 2022.
Both series saw their final compiled volumes released in November 2022. These works are part of the extensive Higurashi franchise, which includes multiple interconnected storylines and spin-offs.
Beyond Natsumi’s contributions, the Higurashi franchise has expanded with other new series. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Meguri by Tomato Akase started in October 2021 and finished in January 2023, with its final volume released in March 2023.
This manga served as a new answer arc for the Higurashi: When They Cry – GOU anime series, which concluded its run in March 2021.
Following this, Higurashi: When They Cry – SOTSU aired from July to October 2021. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Oni, which began in February 2022 and later transitioned online, continues to build on the franchise’s rich legacy.
