Hezbollah retaliated against Israeli strikes by launching missiles and drones at a military facility in northern Israel, resulting in the injury of 14 soldiers, six of whom are in serious condition.
The Israeli military responded after detecting anti-tank missile and drone launches from Lebanon towards the Bedouin village of Arab al-Aramshe. The soldiers were reportedly in a community center in the village at the time of the attack.
Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah members, had preceded the retaliatory strike.
This exchange of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah has been ongoing for over six months, paralleling the conflict in Gaza. It marks the most significant hostilities between the two since the 2006 war.
In a further escalation, Israel’s air force later struck Hezbollah infrastructure north of Baalbek in eastern Lebanon, expanding its targets beyond the southern border region where most strikes had previously occurred.
The continued violence raises concerns about further escalation, particularly following Iran’s retaliatory attack on Israel, which saw hundreds of explosive drones and missiles launched.
The conflict has taken a toll on both sides, with casualties reported. According to Reuters, at least 370 Lebanese, including Hezbollah fighters and civilians, have been killed, while 18 Israelis, including soldiers and civilians, have lost their lives.
