In my opinion, the last episode was very surprising as I developed a newfound respect for all of these chefs. The challenge for this episode was the first ever Hell’s Kitchen Grand Prix and in this challenge, the chefs have to take a shopping cart and pick up a series of ingredients, all within a 2-minute period.
It’s not until the end of the two minutes that the chefs learn that the specific ingredients that they pick for themselves were actually meant for another chef and that the chef must use those ingredients to create a stunning dish.
When the chefs finished their dishes, Carmen made a great dish. Jonathan won the challenge, and he did this while using all the ingredients that Carmen chose for her own dish. With Jonathan as the winner, he was allowed to take another chef with him for the reward, and he chose Ryan, which was a no-brainer.
Recap
Before diving into Hell’s Kitchen Season 22 Episodes 15 & 16, let’s quickly recap and review the previous episode. When it’s time for dinner service, each chef gets a chance to run the pass. Carmen is the first chef to run the pass, and I know over the past several weeks I have been giving Carmen a hard time due to her lack of leadership skills.
However, after watching tonight’s episode, I can honestly say that Carmen really impressed me with her ability to capture most of the sabotage, especially when she was the first chef up and I appreciated her ability to show strong leadership skills once you had nobody else to hide behind.
As impressed as I was with Carmen, I think that Ryan really stole the show for tonight. Ryan had his best showing as a leader as he was able to capture all of the sabotage that came his way, and he was able to uphold all of Gordon’s standards in the kitchen.
Jonathan was Next up and in my opinion, Jonathan just did a decent job as a leader. He caught most of the sabotage, but he didn’t seem as confident of a leader as Ryan was. Lastly, Sammi had her shot to run the pass, and like Jonathan, she caught most of the sabotage and battles with Ryan for a bit as he undertook his lobster.
So all in all, I was thankful that the preview for this episode was a clear misdirection, and the chefs did not allow any unnecessary drama to dominate the storyline. I was also glad to learn each of the chef’s back story as they discussed why they all deserve to make it to the final three. A lot more happened in previous episodes, but now let’s discuss when Episode 15 of Hell’s Kitchen Season 22 will be released and what will happen in it.
