Previously, we saw Xie Lian and his friends meet a mysterious bandaged boy who was being attacked by ghosts. Xie Lian fought off the ghosts using his weapon, Ruoye. The boy ran away before they could find out more about him. Later, Xie Lian received an invitation to Paradise Manor from Hua Cheng.
That is the reason why fans of the series are really excited to find out what is going to happen next time in the upcoming Heaven Official’s Blessing Season 2 Episode 4.
At the manor, Hua Cheng admitted he had recognized Xie Lian earlier but pretended not to. They talked about the manor Hua Cheng built and his powerful ghost-slaying sword, E-Ming. Unexpectedly, Xie Lian was then offered wine by a disguised person named Qingxuan.
The episode opens with Xie Lian seeing a group of ghosts attacking a mysterious bandaged boy. Shi Qingxuan and Lang Qianqiu arrive on the scene as well, with Qianqiu fighting the ghosts in a chaotic manner. However, Xie Lian swiftly defeats all the ghosts using his weapon, Ruoye.
After the fight, they try to find the injured boy, but he has disappeared. The masked Waning Moon official then approaches Xie Lian and informs him of an invitation to Hua Cheng’s Paradise Manor.
At the magnificent manor, Xie Lian spots Hua Cheng, also known as San Lang, constructing an ornate golden hall. This reminds Xie Lian of childhood memories of his own ruined golden hall and his mother’s comforting words.
San Lang greets Xie Lian warmly, admitting he pretended not to recognize him earlier to avoid problems with Qianqiu. Xie Lian offers to return San Lang’s ring, but San Lang says it’s just a small token for someone as important as Xie Lian.
Recap and Review
As Xie Lian and San Lang discuss Paradise Manor, San Lang explains it is just a residence and not a true home to him, unlike Puqi Shrine. He instructs the Waning Moon Officer to find the injured bandaged boy for Xie Lian. Xie Lian admonishes San Lang for running a gambling operation, but San Lang argues everyone enjoys some entertainment, and it’s better he controls it.
The officer locates the boy, who is initially frightened but opens up as Xie Lian treats his wounds. The boy reveals he is from the Yong’an kingdom, like Lang Qianqiu. This triggers traumatic memories for Xie Lian about the war and the White Cloak Calamity. In a moment of fear and anger, he scares the boy away. San Lang comforts and calms Xie Lian.
Later, Xie Lian notices the Waning Moon Officer acting suspiciously and follows him to a locked door. When San Lang finds him, Xie Lian claims he got lost. As they head back, Xie Lian asks about the issue San Lang handled. He dismisses it as a minor matter with the ghost Qi Rong, who is easy for him to control.
They come to an armory filled with treasures, which thrills Xie Lian as it reminds him of the one he had long ago. Amused, San Lang happily gives all the weapons to Xie Lian, even offering to clean them. Xie Lian suddenly asks about San Lang’s famous scimitar, clarifying he doesn’t believe the rumors it kills people.
It turns out the sword on San Lang is a scimitar, E-Ming, and its red eye opens for Xie Lian. San Lang says E-Ming liking Xie Lian is rare but then scolds it for seeking his attention. But Xie Lian is delighted and pets E-Ming’s eye.
Later in the hall, Xie Lian renames the bandaged boy Lang Ying and offers to care for him—a fuzzy memory surfaces of a similarly injured boy. At dinner, a female servant gives Xie Lian wine, and he chokes—it’s his friend Qingxuan in disguise!
