Cheating has become a growing concern for Gray Zone Warfare, with players and creators increasingly calling for MADFINGER Games to take stronger action against unfair play. The issue has now been addressed directly by studio CEO and co-founder Marek Rabas, who says the developer is working on a more effective strategy for identifying and removing cheaters.

During a recent media briefing focused on the upcoming 0.5 Rogue Ops update, Rabas acknowledged the difficulty of completely eliminating cheating from an online game. However, he emphasized that MADFINGER wants to respond much faster when suspicious players are identified.

MADFINGER Is Working on a Faster Anti-Cheat Response

Speaking about the studio’s plans, Rabas said MADFINGER has been discussing the problem extensively and is working toward a dedicated solution.

“We’ve discussed it a lot… How to do it. We’re making a proper plan, we’re working on it, and the main goal is to react as soon as possible.”

The CEO also made clear that the studio does not expect to completely eliminate cheating. Instead, its priority is identifying offenders and removing them from the game quickly.

“We cannot prohibit all the cheating, but we can find these people and kick them out as soon as possible.”

Rabas’ comments are particularly relevant as Gray Zone Warfare continues to develop its multiplayer ecosystem. Persistent cheating can have a major impact on extraction shooters because a single unfair encounter can potentially cost players valuable equipment, progression, or an entire raid.

MADFINGER’s anti-cheat plans come alongside one of the game’s biggest updates yet. The upcoming 0.5 Rogue Ops update is designed to expand Gray Zone Warfare with another gameplay loop centered around life in Lamang.

The update will introduce systems involving passive income, building a life in Lamang and progression toward Ground Zero, giving players additional objectives beyond the game’s existing extraction-focused gameplay.

The timing makes the anti-cheat discussion particularly important. As the game expands, maintaining a fair multiplayer environment will become increasingly important for retaining players and ensuring that new systems are not undermined by exploiters.

Cheating Remains a Major Challenge for Online Games

MADFINGER’s approach reflects a broader problem facing multiplayer developers. Completely preventing cheats is extremely difficult because cheat developers continually adapt their software after detection methods are introduced.

For Gray Zone Warfare, the studio also operates with considerably fewer resources than major publishers running enormous online franchises. That makes rapid detection and enforcement particularly important as MADFINGER attempts to keep the game’s competitive environment fair.

Rabas’ comments suggest the studio recognizes the frustration among players and wants its response to cheating to become faster rather than promising that cheating can disappear entirely.
