Gold Rush: Parker’s Trail Season 6 Episode 2 Recap
Parker Schnabel, a well-known and respected miner, embarks on a venture with his team to uncharted mining territories within the Amarakaeri Reserve and Madre de Dios sector. The areas in question are mostly known by locals and have remained untapped up to this point.
However, Parker and his team wouldn’t reach their destination without the assistance of some shady illegal miners notorious for their blatant disregard for the environment and the implications of clandestine mineral extraction. While it’s unfortunate that Parker had to work with these individuals, his mission is to explore and perhaps exploit the potential of these untapped territories.
Parker, Danny, and their crew arrive at a Peruvian mining site with shady miners. During their conversation, the miners attempt to justify their illicit activities by claiming that they do it to support their families. However, this is a mere excuse that those in the trade frequently use to hide the ugly truth: illegal mining leads to sex trafficking, environmental degradation, governmental corruption, and moral decay.
Mining The Old-Fashioned Way
Parker and Danny survey the site and inform Diego and Tyler in Puerto Luz. The group reverts to the old-fashioned method of mining for gold, utilizing shovels, a makeshift washplant, and good, old-fashioned sweat.
Although they laboriously move four yards of dirt within four days to yield a gram of gold, this is still a promising venture. The end of the episode hints at Parker’s next move as he uses dynamite to dig deeper once back home, perpetually in pursuit of bigger and better gold.
