God of War Laufey voice actor Deborah Ann Woll has responded to the online backlash surrounding Sony Santa Monica’s newly announced spin-off, making it clear that the criticism has not shaken her confidence in the project.
Speaking during an appearance at Florida Supercon, the Daredevil star said she remains optimistic about the game despite negative reactions from some corners of the internet. Her comments were shared in a fan-recorded TikTok clip.
Deborah Ann Woll says confidence in the game outweighs online criticism
When asked about the backlash to the female-led God of War Laufey, Woll admitted she expected the criticism to affect her more than it actually did.
“I mean, genuinely, I thought I was going to be much more affected by it.”
She explained that avoiding social media has helped, adding:
“One, I’m not on social media, so that helps. And two, I don’t know, I feel totally unbothered because I just know it’s great. Like, it’s okay if it’s not your cup of tea, but in no universe is it bad.”

Sony has revealed only limited details about God of War Laufey, but the game is being developed by Sony Santa Monica, the studio behind the critically acclaimed God of War reboot and God of War Ragnarök. The spin-off shifts the focus to Laufey, offering players a new perspective within the Norse saga while expanding the franchise’s story beyond Kratos.
Although the game has sparked debate online, Woll’s remarks suggest the development team remains confident in the experience they are creating. With Sony Santa Monica leading the project and anticipation continuing to grow, fans will likely learn more about God of War Laufey in the months ahead.
