K-pop has become a very popular kind of pop music worldwide. We can observe many K-pop fans around us. Many K-pop groups, new and old, compete with each other to make their unique place in the K-pop industry.
There are some K-pop groups that do not get the popularity they deserve, regardless of their talent. On the other hand, there are K-pop groups whose talent is not left ignored and recognized by the audience.
One of those groups is- “Girl’s Day.” Girl’s Day gained so much popularity soon after their debut. It is one of the most popular and successful groups in the K-pop industry. The group has signed with over 20 brands till now, including LG Electronics, Nexon, and many more.
In 2013, Girl’s Day ranked 13 on the list of Korea’s most powerful and influential celebrities.
Girl’s Day: Debut
On 7th July 2010, Girl’s Day debuted with their first single, “Tilt My Head.” The group debuted under ‘Dream T Entertainment’ with five members.
Two days after its debut, the group released its first EP, “Girl’s Day Party #1.’ All the members of the group are extremely talented with mesmerizing visuals.
The name of its fandom is “Daisy.” In 2019, Girl’s Day decided not to renew its contract with Dream T Entertainment but confirmed that they are not disbanding yet. Their last EP, “Everyday #5,” was released in 2017; the group is inactive as of now.
Girl’s Day: Members
Girl’s Day debuted with five members- Jihae, Jiin, Sojin, Jisun, and Minah on 7th July 2010. After two months of their debut, Jisun and Jiin left the group.
On 29th October 2010, two new members were added to the group- ‘Yura and Hyeri.’ After that, all five girls started working as a group. They gained so much popularity in a very short span of time.
But on 17th October 2012, Jihae left the group too, leaving it as a 4 membered group. The group returned with the release of their song, ‘Don’t Forget Me.’ Currently, the group consists of four members- Sojin, Minah, Yura, and Hyeri.
Sojin
Sojin’s birth name is ‘Park So Jin.’ She was born in Daegu, South Korea, on 21st May 1986. She is the leader and lead vocalist of the group.
She was a vocal trainer for the ‘Ulala Session’ boy band before debuting in Girl’s Day. She is a great composer and has composed many of the group’s songs too. She has also acted in many shows and movies.
Minah
Minah’s birth name is ‘Bang Min Ah.’ She was born in Incheon, South Korea, on 13th May 1993. She is the main vocalist of the group.
In 2015, she made her solo debut with her album ‘I Am a Woman Too.’ She has acted in many dramas and movies.
Yura
Yura’s birth name is ‘Kim Ah Young.’ She was born in Ulsan, South Korea, on 6th November 1992. She is the main rapper, lead dancer, vocalist, and visual of the group.
She has acted in many shows, including “Secret Angel” and “Radio Romance.”
Hyeri
Hyeri’s birth name is ‘Lee Hye Ri.’ She was born in Gwangju, South Korea, on 9th June 1994. She is the main dancer, lead rapper, vocalist, and face of the group.
She is also the youngest member of the group. Hyeri has acted in many dramas, including “Tasty Life,” “Two Cops,” and “May I Help You.” She also donated to UNICEF for a campaign.
