Ghost of Yōtei has reportedly generated $407 million in game sales revenue, with approximately 5.4 million copies sold worldwide since its October 2025 launch. The latest figures come from market research firm Alinea Analytics, suggesting that Sucker Punch Productions’ open-world action-adventure game continues to deliver strong commercial results for Sony nearly a year after release.
According to a new report by Alinea Analytics, Ghost of Yōtei sold approximately 500,000 additional copies during the third quarter of 2026, generating nearly $30 million in revenue. The report also estimates that physical editions account for 36.8% of total sales, highlighting the continued importance of physical purchases for major PlayStation releases.
The game has maintained its commercial momentum despite receiving relatively few discounts on the PlayStation Store. Alinea notes that Sony has reduced its price to $50 on just two occasions, with each promotional period lasting approximately two weeks.
These figures are independent market estimates rather than officially confirmed sales totals from Sony or Sucker Punch Productions.
GHOST OF YŌTEI’S OCTOBER EXPANSION BRINGS BACK HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF PLAYERS
Alongside its reported commercial performance, Ghost of Yōtei experienced a substantial increase in player engagement following the release of new content on October 1, 2026. Sony introduced the Echoes of Sekigahara story expansion and a run-based mode called Most Wanted, providing existing players with additional reasons to return.
Alinea Analytics estimates that the game averaged approximately 150,000 daily active users during the two months preceding the update. Following the new content’s release, daily engagement more than doubled, eventually reaching a peak of 327,000 players.

The research firm estimates that more than 6% of the game’s player base returned to experience the October content. The increase is particularly notable given the crowded gaming release calendar, which continues to compete for players’ attention.
Sony also revised the game’s purchasing options alongside the October update. The original standalone edition was removed from sale and replaced with a $70 Complete Edition containing the base game and newly released content.
Existing owners can access the additional content through a $14.99 upgrade, while new customers can purchase the complete package directly.
According to Alinea Analytics, the digital-only Complete Edition sold nearly 50,000 copies during its first two weeks, generating more than $2 million in revenue. These figures do not include all purchases made by existing players upgrading to the new content.
The report further estimates that Ghost of Yōtei sold approximately 1.8 million copies during 2026 alone, generating $121 million in revenue. Its continued sales, combined with renewed player engagement following the October expansion, indicate that the PlayStation exclusive remains commercially active well beyond its initial launch period.
