Fullmetal Alchemist has been a fan favorite ever since its release. One part that contributes to its fame is its antagonists, who have made an impactful stand in the story. The anime became a huge sensation, especially after it was rebooted with a proper adaptation of the manga. As we watch the anime unfold through its mysteries, we see the story get darker and darker. Only towards the latter part of the anime do we see the true antagonist behind everything: The Father. This major antagonist made amazing use of all his powers only to bring out the best of the main characters. He was quite an intriguing addition to the anime but will The Father die in Fullmetal Alchemist? The character was such an amazing touch that halfway through the anime, everyone must have pondered upon this question.
Fullmetal Alchemist is no less of a stunning journey. The anime is mainstream, but all that popularity comes from the very fact that it has an amazing plot. It is based on a popular manga written by Hiromu Arakawa. The manga was published by Square Enix in 2001, and it ran till 2010 for 27 volumes. This shonen manga grew quite popular over time, especially after the anime was released. While the main characters are an adorable and strong bunch, what fans absolutely love about Fullmetal Alchemist is how well the plot has coordinated its villains.
Its main antagonist’s complicated origin makes people still ask questions about him. So will The Father die in Fullmetal Alchemist? Here is everything we know about the character’s ending.
Who Is The Father?
As aforementioned, The Father is the main antagonist of the anime and manga Fullmetal Alchemist. The Father is the oldest Homunculus, who created the others. He was created from the Eye and by using Hohenheim’s blood. Having received a lot of knowledge from The Eye, he is filled with it. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why he was such a troublesome homunculus to deal with. After getting created, he created more Homunculi. The Father was an immensely egoistic being who wanted to be more powerful and better than the others. He seeks to rule the world as he believes only he can set the world on the right path. His arrogance knew no bounds as he saw himself as a superior.
The Father was equally cruel to his homunculi. He was selfish and had no care for them. All he ever cared about were his own plans and to use the homunculi to succeed in them. He absorbed Greed without a hint of hesitation to resupply his philosopher’s stone. The big difference is realized as we see Greed being compassionate towards his subordinates, but the Father is nothing but merciless towards his own loyal homunculi.
What’s sad about The Father is that he does not especially hold a grudge against humanity or anyone else. It’s just pure narcissism on his part that makes him see everyone else as a lesser.
