The Korean film industry continues to flourish with new talent and compelling stories, and one notable transition is “Single’s Inferno” star DEX, now embracing the role of actor Kim Jinyoung. Stepping onto the silver screen, DEX is set to charm audiences in the upcoming film “Tarot.”
At the press conference for “Tarot” held at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall in Seoul, DEX presented a mix of humility and eagerness about his first movie role.
Reflecting on being called a movie star, he said, “They called me a movie star, but I am not a person who deserves that kind of title,” expressing gratitude for this opportunity. This shift from reality TV to acting underscores a journey fueled by dedication and determination.
“Tarot,” directed by Choi Byung Gil and written by Kyung Min Seon, gets into the themes of fate and choice through three interconnected episodes. DEX plays Dong In in the third episode, “Throw Away,” getting a transformative and chilling ordeal.
As the film’s release approaches, DEX openly wonders about the audience’s reception of his performance, asking, “How much criticism will I get?” This introspection highlights the uncertainty and vulnerability in artistic pursuits.
Despite his concerns, DEX remains confident in the collective effort and talent in “Tarot.” Public anticipation for his role is high, with trailers and promotional materials receiving enthusiastic responses. Director Choi Byung Gil expressed his confidence in DEX’s acting potential, believing he will shine brightly in his new career.
Jinyoung is prepared to embrace both praise and constructive criticism as he reflects on his performance. He acknowledges his strengths and areas for improvement, focusing on continuous growth. “The biggest advantage is naturalness,” he remarked, underscoring his commitment to authenticity and evolution as an actor.
