There were many scandals regarding drug consumption among K-pop idols and other eminent personalities of South Korea. And this has affected the career of many k-pop idols. One such scandal was involving IKON’s leader B.I. IKON is a very popular k-pop band in South Korea. IKON’s B. I. reportedly purchased drugs for consumption a few years before. He was faced with criminal charges.
However, this is not all, as the former k-pop trainee under YG entertainment who reported about this scandal was threatened by the CEO of YG entertainment at that time. Former YG Trainee Testifies Against Yang Hyun Suk:
Yang Hyun Suk is the former CEO of YG entertainment. In 2016, following IKON B.I’s drug case, it was alleged that Hyun Sik threatened the former trainee of YG entertainment to not spill the beans about the drug abuse case. The former trainee revealed this at the court on April 18, when she testified against the former CEO. She said how Yang Hyun Sik threatened to kill her if she laid the news about the drug abuse to the outside world. And added that she was so scared hearing those words. This incident happened in 2016 at the YG entertainment office. One of the shocking revelations includes that she was threatened for almost two hours by Yang Hyun Suk.
However, Yang Hyun Suk remained on his stand and said that it is true that the idol trainee and he met at the office of YG entertainment. But he denied brainwashing her mind or threatening or coercing her over the drug abuse case. Meanwhile, Yang Hyun Suk was handed over to the court on the ground that he threatened and manipulated the ex- idol trainee to make her retract the testimony against the K-pop idol claiming he purchased drugs.
IKON’s B. I Drug Abuse Case:
Kim Han-bin better known by the stage name B.I made his debut under YG entertainment along with the other members of the South Korean boy band IKON. B. I was the leader and rapper of the band. IKON is a famous K-pop band, one of its best songs being Love Scenario. He also won The Best Songwriter Of The Year Title At Melon Music Awards in 2018. But things did not end well with the K-pop star as he had to leave IKON in 2019 following a drug abuse case.
It was revealed that the actor purchased drugs and he accepted it himself claiming he was going through tough times and that he did something foolish as he was only a teenager back then. In 2021, after a long investigation, Kim Han-bin was fined $1.3K along with four years of probation. Recently IKON’s Han-bin was appointed as the CEO of IOK company and since then has been releasing music actively. In 2021, B. I released his single album called Midnight Blue. And he released another album called Cosmos containing seven songs that were written and produced by him.
Yang Hyun-suk’s Previous Scandal:
Yang Hyun-Suk is a very well-known South Korean rapper, dancer and songwriter who used to be a member of the K-pop band Seo Taiji&Boys. He became the founder and CEO of YG entertainment, after the band’s disbandment. YG Entertainment was established in 1996 since then the singer managed the industry till 2019. He had to step down from his position in 2019, following his involvement in Burning Sun Scandal. Moreover, the recent allegations about Yang Hyun Suk as revealed by an ex-idol trainee are even more shocking to the world.
