Former Trump Organization Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg received a five-month jail sentence on Wednesday for pleading guilty to perjury charges last month.
The sentencing, in line with the judge’s previous statements, occurred at a Manhattan criminal court hearing presided over by Judge Laurie Peterson. Following the hearing, court officers escorted Weisselberg out of the courtroom in handcuffs.
This marks Weisselberg’s second stint in jail, previously spending around three months at New York’s Rikers Island in 2023 for his involvement in a 15-year tax fraud scheme within the Trump Organization.
The recent perjury charges stemmed from Weisselberg’s false testimony during a civil fraud case brought by New York State Attorney General Letitia James against Trump and other executives, alleging property value manipulation to deceive lenders and insurers.
Weisselberg denied involvement in misrepresenting the value of Trump’s Manhattan townhouse, contradicting evidence suggesting otherwise from his emails.
He admitted to lying about his role in Trump’s financial statements during prior depositions with James’ office. James’ investigation resulted in a $454 million penalty against Trump for fraudulent property valuations, an order he’s appealing.
Weisselberg, who served the Trump family for 50 years, did not indicate cooperation with prosecutors in his plea agreement.
Meanwhile, Trump faces a criminal trial starting Monday for concealing $130,000 in hush money paid by his former lawyer Michael Cohen to Stormy Daniels.
Trump denies the allegations, pleading not guilty to falsifying business records and denying the encounter with Daniels.
The case adds to Trump’s legal entanglements, including efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss and handling of government documents, to which he also pleaded not guilty.
