The internet is kind of funny when it comes to saying that there are controversies, today, I plan to clear the air about the fact that Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters honored their late drummer at Glastonbury.
If you want to call that a controversy, be my guest, I find that a very heartwarming gesture because Taylor Hawkins was one hell of a guy.
Foo Fighters released the band dropped their eleventh album, “But Here We Are” in 2022 and took it on tour.
Foo Fighters is the kind of band that plays rock aloud, with lots of energy. We’ve all seen videos in which Dave Grohl even invites a fan to play a song with them.
But things were different in Glastonbury because Grohl took a moment to emotionally honor their late drummer, Taylor Hawkins, who died tragically while the band was on tour last year.
As a matter of fact, when Foo Fighters play Everlong, that usually reserved for when the band finishes their set and says their goodbyes. But the fact that they sang it from the get-go, well, that made fans and band members alike cry and sing the 1997 hit song at the top of their lungs.
Glastonbury Sings Everlong At The Top Of Their Lungs
As the riff from Everlong began sounding through the massive speakers at Glastonbury, the crowd chanted Taylor’s name: “T”, “T” and “Taylor”, “Taylor” at the top of the public lungs in a tear-jerking homage to the late talented drummer Taylor Hawkins.
Those who were lucky enough to see this amazing show will remember it for the rest of their lives. If you weren’t there, no worries because thanks to the wonders of the internet you can stream that performance from YouTube from multiple angles.

On Taylor Hawkins
Taylor Hawkins died in Bogota back in March 2022 in Colombia from a drug overdose, his death shocked everybody and canceled the tour.
Hawkins had a troubled past with heroin that lasted for a long time, and when he died in Colombia, it was a damn tragedy.
Taylor might be gone but his spirit lives on. Let’s honor it with his music and talent.
Dave Grohl, the famous lead singer of Foo Fighters and former drummer for Nirvana, took the stage and spoke to the crowd with a lot of feeling, that they would start the show with a song that is usually used to say goodbye.
No Controversy
So, when it comes to the internet titling that there’s a controversy with Foo Fighters, no buddy, there’s no controversy with Foo Fighters.
All that Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters wanted to do was honor their friend Taylor Hawkins. And what better way to do it than to make sure that his music would live on, after all, Taylor’s drum solos were f*cking amazing.
The love and respect they had for their bandmate and close friend who had died came through in every note and lyric, honoring the special memories they had together and the lasting effect he had on their lives.
What Does “Everlong” Mean?
“Everlong” is one hell of a song that was released in 1997 as part of the band’s album “The Colour and the Shape.” This famous song quickly rose to the top three spots on the Billboard charts.
Its sound drew people in, you can hear it in movies, and in video games, and if you’re like me it can take you back to a moment where you once first heard it. For me, I heard it on the radio right after Green Day’s “When I Come Around” was played.
We can’t talk about Everlong without mentioning the music video made by the famous French director Michel Gondry, a man who also did work for Chemical Brothers, Kylie Minogue, Daft Punk, The White Stripes and many more.
