A new generation of anime fans is about to experience one of the genre’s classic sports franchises. The staff behind Honō no Tōkyūjo: Dodge Danko, internationally titled Flaming Dodgeball Girl Danko, has announced two new cast members for the ongoing series. The latest additions strengthen the connection between the 2026 anime and the original 1990s Flaming Dodgeball Girl Dodge Danpei, continuing the legacy of the beloved dodgeball franchise for longtime fans and newcomers alike.

Two Veteran Voice Actors Join the Ichigeki Family

The official website for Flaming Dodgeball Girl Danko has announced two new additions to the anime’s voice cast. Veteran voice actress Noriko Hidaka will play Misato Ichigeki, while Misato Fukuen will play Haruka Ichigeki. Together, the two characters complete another generation of the Ichigeki family, surrounding teenage protagonist Danko Ichigeki with an even stronger family presence.

Noriko Hidaka originally voiced Danpei Ichigeki, the lead character of the 1991 Flaming Dodgeball Girl Dodge Danpei. In the new series, she has already returned to reprise Danpei in flashback scenes as the narrator. Her latest role as Misato Ichigeki further strengthens her connection to a franchise she helped define more than three decades ago.

Misato Fukuen’s addition also expands the family dynamic at the center of the sequel. With Hidaka and Fukuen portraying older members of the Ichigeki household, Flaming Dodgeball Girl Danko continues to emphasize the importance of family alongside its fast-paced sports action. The casting reflects the series’ goal of honoring its legacy while introducing a new generation of characters to today’s anime audience.

Experienced Staff Lead the New Anime Adaptation

The anime adaptation is directed by Hiroshi Ikehata, whose previous work includes Dark Gathering, Kiratto Pri☆Chan, and TONIKAWA: Over the Moon for You. The composition is handled by Kazuho Hyōdō, and Narihito Sekikawa serves as both character designer and chief animation director for Studio CUE. The experienced creative team brings together talent with strong backgrounds in action, comedy, and family-oriented anime.

Music also plays an important role in capturing the series’ energetic atmosphere. The opening theme, Kaishin no Ichigeki, is performed by Momoiro Clover Z, while the ending theme, Welcome to Azatosa World, is performed by i☆Ris. Both songs match the lively pace of the dodgeball action while celebrating the franchise’s long history.

With an experienced staff, recognizable voice actors, and a clear respect for the original series, Flaming Dodgeball Girl Danko balances nostalgia with a modern presentation. The production aims to appeal to viewers who grew up with Dodge Danpei while also introducing the franchise to younger anime fans.
