Gangrim was uneasy when he encountered the shadow demons impersonating Yoon Bom and Yoon Gyeoul. In the eerie room filled with sewn-together skeletons, there was only one type of monster present.
These “shadow thieves” were low-level demons capable of perfectly replicating a human’s appearance and abilities after encountering them. However, they could not imitate someone’s true personality and beliefs.
Gangrim noticed random, erratic firing from the fake Yoon Gyeol, behavior he knew the real Gyeol would never exhibit. He also observed Yoon Bom utilizing a new skill, putting him in a difficult position. Her attack was too close for him to dodge but too far away for his sword to reach.
Gangrim realized that even his stealth abilities could not hide him from these demons. He was unsure how much longer he could defend against their onslaught. Recap and Review
Yoon Bom arrived just in time to help Gangrim escape, although he had been shot and was bleeding. Gangrim assured her it was not serious, but Yoon Bom still offered him some medicine. He declined, saying he already had some.
Looking around, Gangrim noticed the area seemed strange. Yoon Bom informed him she had heard the next room was a jail of some kind. Gangrim immediately asked if Shin Sooah was being held there. Before Yoon Bom could fully explain, Gangrim discovered Sooah injured and in bad shape.
Yoon Bom clarified that the demon realm monsters could copy their skills, so even when defeated, the shadows would reappear. By coincidence, they had found each other again after the drum sounds on the second day. Yoon Bom had tried helping Sooah after getting rid of her shadow.
Further analyzing the situation, Yoon Bom realized the damage done to the humans also affected their shadows. She explained to Gangrim that Sooah’s injuries were self-inflicted, done in an attempt to defeat her own shadow. Since none of them could truly beat Sooah’s shadow, this was the best solution she came up with.
Yoon Bom had promised to handle everything once the rest escaped. But she told Gangrim he should have stopped Sooah, as she was too kind for her own good. Gangrim replied that Sooah wasn’t kind at all but crazy. He used up all his healing potions to treat Sooah’s wounds.
Seeing this, Yoon Bom cried, thinking they should have prevented Sooah from going to such extremes. But Gangrim knew there was nothing Yoon Bom could have done to stop Sooah once she made up her mind.
Gangrim asked Yoon Bom if she had managed to find her personal plaque. Yoon Bom replied that she had located a few plaques, but Sooah, Gyeoul, and Father Johann still had not found theirs.
After some time passed, Sooah regained consciousness. Gangrim requested that Yoon Bom give them privacy, as he wanted to speak with Sooah alone.

Once they were alone, Sooah told Gangrim to put away the medicine, explaining that if she remained conscious, the others would be in danger.
Gangrim did not want Sooah to harm herself again. But Sooah insisted there was no other option – she could not defeat her shadow. That was why this extreme route had to be taken.
