In an announcement made during Amazon’s Upfront presentation on Tuesday, creator Jenny Han revealed that the eagerly anticipated Season 3 of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” is set to debut in the summer of 2025.
While specific details about the upcoming installment remain scarce, Han disclosed that Season 3 will be expanded, comprising a total of 11 episodes.
Season 2 consisted of eight episodes, while Season 1 boasted just seven episodes, noted Han, indicating a progression in both episode count and potentially narrative depth for the beloved series.
Currently, production for Season 3 is in full swing, with series stars Lola Tung, Christopher Briney, and Gavin Casalegno joining Han on stage during Tuesday’s presentation to provide insights into the filming process.
“I’m really excited to see what comes next for all of us in the show itself, especially for Jeremiah and Belly’s final moments in Season 2,” Casalegno said.
Added Briney:
“We’ve all been so close. It’s our third year, which is kind of crazy. I miss them a lot. We were away for a while…So it’s good to be back, reunited, where it all started.”
“The Summer I Turned Pretty” is a multigenerational drama centered around a love triangle involving one girl and two brothers, exploring the evolving dynamics between mothers and their children, and celebrating the enduring strength of female friendship.
It encapsulates the essence of a coming-of-age tale, delving into themes of first love, first heartbreak, and the enchantment of that unforgettable summer.
Season 2 of the series is helmed by showrunners Jenny Han and Sarah Kucserka. Alongside them, executive producers include Karen Rosenfelt, Gabrielle Stanton, Hope Hartman, Mads Hansen, and Paul Lee for wiip.
