Encanto ending had the fans in tears, and here is an explanation. The film was released in 2021 and was all about this little girl in a magical family but without any actual magical powers. Yes, Mirabel was supposed to get her powers when she comes of a certain age, but she never did. This disappointed the whole Madrigal family, especially her grandmother, who had high hopes for her.
Obviously, the little girl does not have any fault in the matter, but still, the elderly woman and the matriarch of the family treat her rudely. The film was released by Disney and made a bang among the fans. Not only did it suit children’s liking, but it was also a great source of entertainment for adults. The film was a commercial success. It was made on a budget of 120 to 150 million dollars. Upon its release, it grosses more than 256 million dollars.
The film takes turns into various subplots, and we will describe them all. First, let us understand the origin and past of the Madrigal family. Alma and Pedro are a married couple who have to leave their hometown in Columbia in order to save themselves and their triplets. Pedro is killed in the battle. Alma finds a magical candle that keeps her alive with her kids and throws off the attackers. The candle also builds a home for them named Casita, located in Encanto, a beautiful place bordered by mountains.

What Happens To Madrigals’ Powers?
Coming back to the present day, a small town is established around Casita, and the members of the Madrigal family help the townfolk through their daily tasks with their powers. This is all made possible by the protection of the candle. Every member of the family lives in Casita except Bruno. He has left their home. After this, we see Mirabel, who is 15 years of age and has received no gifts at all.
The third part of Encanto becomes inevitable when Mirabel comes to find out that the powers of Casita and the family members are slowly fading away. The house is having cracks, and this potentially means danger to them. When she tries to confront her grandmother about it, she blames it all on her. Her grandmother feels like Mirabel is the reason why their family will have to face a dangerous fate.
On the other hand, after becoming a total outcast among the Madrigals, Mirabel goes to Bruno’s room to find answers. She finds Bruno himself, who has been living behind the walls of Casita in a secret passageway all along. Mirabel and Bruno bond through time. The reason for his disappearance was that whenever he used to tell people of their fate, they would get disappointed and blame him for ill luck.
Encanto Ending Explained
They try to predict the future of Casita and the candle. According to Bruno’s prediction, the image shows Mirabel, and she thinks she is the cause of the destruction as well. During the ending scenes, we see Casita falling down because the family has been so unhappy over the past few years that they could not handle the pressure. The candle also blows off. Alma becomes too angry to think straight, and Mirabel flees the house and goes to sit beside the river. Her grandmother joins her soon and explains the past to her. The two bonds then bond with each other.
Upon coming back to the town, the people help them build a house back because, for so many years, the Madrigal family has helped them in numerous ways. It was Mirabel who had been trying to bring the family together all along; thus, she is given the chance to open the door first. As soon as she touches the knob, her magical powers of Casita come back, and the candle is lit once again. Turns out, the powers were diminishing not because of Mirabel but because of the pressure that Alma has been putting on the family members to be perfect.
