Nearly three decades after Eat-Man last received a television anime, Akihito Yoshitomi’s sci-fi manga is officially returning with a completely new animated project. Titled EAT-MAN The Over Order, the upcoming anime marks the franchise’s third adaptation and brings back Masashi Ebara as the voice of its mysterious protagonist, Bolt Crank.
The announcement was made on September 10, 2026, alongside a newly illustrated teaser visual and a short promotional video. Most notably, Yoshitomi is directly involved in the production as both screenwriter and original design concept creator.
Bolt Crank Is Back for a New Adventure
Eat-Man follows Bolt Crank, a wandering adventurer with the strangest abilities in anime. He can eat metal and later recreate weapons and other objects from it, turning even his most ordinary journeys into unpredictable adventures.
Bolt is deliberately mysterious. He rarely discusses his past or explains his ultimate motivations, instead traveling from place to place while accepting jobs. His adventures put him in the middle of dangerous situations involving secrets, lost memories, unexpected encounters, and people trying to protect something important.
The official story description for The Over Order suggests that these themes will remain central to the new anime. The production teases a journey involving “lost memories,” things people have lost and truths hidden somewhere in the world.
EAT-MAN The Over Order Continues a Long-Running Legacy
Yoshitomi’s original manga began serialization in 1996 and ran until 2003 in Dengeki Comic Gao! A sequel series, Eat-Man: The Main Dish, was later published from 2014 to 2019.
The franchise previously made the jump to television with Eat-Man in 1997, followed by Eat-Man ’98 in 1998. The Over Order therefore becomes the third anime adaptation and the first completely new animated project in 28 years.
That long gap makes the announcement particularly significant for longtime fans who remember the original television adaptations.
