Nexon has officially released the Sky of a Thousand Seas update for Dungeon Fighter Online (DFO), introducing one of the MMORPG’s biggest seasonal content expansions in recent years. Available now on PC through the official launcher, Steam, and the Epic Games Store, the update sends players on a new adventure across an unexplored region while overhauling equipment progression and adding several new dungeons, events, and gameplay improvements.
The latest season continues DFO’s long-running fantasy storyline by taking adventurers into the Sky of a Thousand Seas, where they must confront the mysterious Vanitas organization alongside Myre and a new cast of allies. In addition to expanding the world of Arad, the update introduces a redesigned gearing system intended to make progression more rewarding and significantly reduce the frustration associated with random equipment drops.
Sky of a Thousand Seas introduces new progression systems
The headline feature of the update is the new Oaths equipment system, which replaces the previous Fusion Stone mechanic as the core progression feature for the current season.
According to Nexon, Oaths is designed to provide more consistent rewards by reducing heavy reliance on random number generation. A new duplicate protection feature prevents players from repeatedly obtaining equipment they already own, while the Oath Crystal Collection system lets adventurers dismantle unwanted Oath Crystals into currency that can be exchanged for the specific crystal they need.
Together, these mechanics aim to streamline character progression and give players greater control over building their ideal equipment sets.
The update also introduces several new activities for players seeking endgame challenges.
The new Hell Party dungeon, Endkeeper of Order, joins two Advanced Dungeons—Grand Constellation Turtle Library and Castle of the Apostate. Successfully clearing these activities rewards players with Oaths equipment, Oath Crystals, Doom Oracles, and other progression materials needed throughout the new season.
A separate Special Dungeon, Labyrinth of Paradox, focuses on account-wide progression rather than individual characters. Players can earn Subjugation Tickets, allowing them to instantly claim rewards from Daily and Advanced Dungeons with a single click. The dungeon also introduces the Mercenary Group system, enabling players to dispatch or recruit Buffer characters while unlocking additional exploration bonuses based on overall group progression.
Beyond new content, Nexon has implemented several quality-of-life improvements designed to make DFO more accessible.
The new Skill Chain system allows multiple abilities to be assigned to a single button, simplifying combat rotations. Meanwhile, Arad Odyssey helps newly created characters progress through early content more efficiently, making it easier for returning players to catch up with the current season.
Multiple launch events offer valuable rewards
To celebrate the update, Nexon has launched several limited-time events packed with progression items.
Players can redeem the free coupon code 2026-THOU-SAND-SEAS to receive rewards including Rare Clone Avatars, Platinum Emblems, and Gold Emblems.
The 7-Day Journey for Sky of a Thousand Seas event grants increasingly valuable login rewards, including up to 7,000 Doom Oracles, Rare Avatar Selection Boxes, Primeval Accessory Selection Boxes, and a coveted +13 Weapon Reinforcement Ticket.
Meanwhile, Sky of a Thousand Seas Boost Up accelerates character progression with upgraded Boost Capsules supporting higher Fame levels, while Oracle’s Epic Equipment Module Research gives players a path toward crafting Epic Set Equipment by completing new dungeons and collecting Battery Packs and Mystical Energy.
With a redesigned progression system, additional endgame activities, streamlined gameplay features, and generous launch rewards, Sky of a Thousand Seas marks a substantial new chapter for Dungeon Fighter Online, giving both veteran and returning players plenty of reasons to set sail once again.
