Dual Movie Ending Explained
The film starts with a dual to death between the original and cloned version of a man that ends with the clone winning after he ends the life of the original and real man. The scene then shifts towards Sarah, a depressed alcoholic going through a driveway and ordering her favorite foods before driving home and having a video call with Peter, her boyfriend.
Meanwhile, Sarah and her mother share a strained relationship that viewers get to witness when the two have breakfast together at a restaurant where Sarah almost chokes to avoid having a chat with her mom luckily for her Sarah doesn’t choke on coins, but it is a nightmare from which she woke up to realize that she was sleeping in the pool of her blood and then she vomiting blood again while waiting to be checked in the hospital that rings the alarm bell in the receptionist’s head who moves Sarah along for a consultation with a doctor before having a conversation with Peter, who refuses to return home to her stating his team is a step closer to their dream project.
After having a video call with her boyfriend, she informs him about her scheduled endoscopy before the two wish each other goodnight, and the following day, Sarah is sent home. After she consults with the doctor, Sarah is told to go home and take care of herself, so she returns and ends up drinking for the night before trying to contact Peter and failing.
Sarah starts taking care of herself by having a healthy diet and working out regularly in the gym before Peter informs Sarah about her impending death as she is suffering from an incurable disease with a 2% survival chance. Sarah decides to have a clone generated for her by paying money to soften the pain her loved ones would feel after losing her to her incurable disease. Sarah gave her clone the name “Sarah Double” before giving her the basic knowledge of her life interests and hobbies.
After ten months of her diagnosis, Sarah is informed by her doctors that she is in remission and will make a full recovery, but when Sarah arrives at her mom’s place to share the good news before finding her clone spending time with her close friends and mother.
Sarah is infuriated after learning about her clone being in regular contact with her loved ones, but after the truth comes out, Sarah attempts to turn things back to normal and demands her clone be destroyed. Sarah’s demand is rejected by Peter and her mother as both of them prefer the new version of Sara, which is the clone, and the two have to engage in a death dual as stated by law after Sarah’s clone demands to remain alive.
To win against her clone, Sarah takes up self-defence classes with Trent, her trainer and begins to train for a year, where she learns to improve her mental and physical health. Sarah also learns about the operating system of the clone and the process of clone duel before teaching Trent a hip-hop dance routine as her final payment.
Does Sarah Survive The Clone Dual?
After her training session ends, Sarah starts to feel confident and decides to meet Peter to state that she will unapologetically kill her clone, but she means no ill to him and her mother as the two prefer the clone over her, but she has a right to live her life.
Meanwhile, in the middle of the test with Trent, Sarah observes her clone keeping a watch on her from a distance before she decides to chase her to a nearby playground. Once, in the park, Sarah and her clone have a heart-to-heart conversation before Sarah’s clone takes her her to a support group of people who have survived the duals by killing their clones.
The two bond after Sarah has a conversation with the support group and decides to escape past the borders to live their lives separately. The following morning, the duo goes on a hike, where Sarah discovers that her clone has poisoned her water, and she dies in the wilderness. Meanwhile, Sarah’s clone shows up to the dual alone and announces about being the original one and the clone having run away.
After a court hearing and investigation, the judge declares her to be the original, but soon she decides to feel overwhelmed with the similar emotions felt by the original Sarah. The film ends with Sarah’s clone carrying burdens as her doting mother and Peter overwhelm her and she cries in the middle of a roundabout while on a drive to calm her emotions.
