The third season of Drag Race España is well underway. This regional iteration of the successful RuPaul’s Drag Race in the Old Continent hits the screens of the Iberian Peninsula and the world from the hands of AtresMedia and WOWPremium, giving each week a group of men to dress up like women and undergo demanding challenges in exchange for a cash prize, endorsements and a shot of immortality as they’re in the race to see who’s better at looking like a woman.
Hosted by performer Daniel Blesa aka Supreme De Luxe, and with a panel of judges composed of fashion designer Ana Locking, Spanish actor Javier Ambrossi, and director and also actor Javier Calvo, a dozen men stand in front of them every week as they eliminate one by one on their way to stardom in this niche-specific show that celebrates LGTB pride in Spain.
Each episode consists pretty much like the original Drag Race, imported from the United States. There are confessionals, banter, drama, glitter, voting for elimination process, a challenge for the men to partake in, a performance, and an eventual ceremony where the judge’s panel decides who’s at risk, who will be going home, and who did the best on that episode.
Drag Race España Season 3 Episode 5 Recap
The few previous episodes saw a lot of things, a terror-themed drag queen show, a great ball from regions across Spain, and a weird thing called the Snatch Game. So, the last episode of Drag Race España left nine competitors left in the race: Macarena, Visa, Vania Vainilla, Pitita, Pink Chadora, Pakita, Hornella Góngora, Bestiah, and Clover Bish. With the previous elimination of Kelly Roller from Andalucía and with Clover (from Barcelona) up for elimination, things were quite safe for Pitita from Catalonia, who didn’t hesitate to brag about his status in the competition during some banter during the makeup sessions.
The lip sync portion of this episode had Pakita and Macarena singing “Desátame” by gay idol Mónica Naranjo, with a notable performance by Pakita and bad news for Macarena, who lost the challenge and was sent to the chopping block along with Pakita, who despite winning the challenge was put up for elimination, but when all was said and done, it was Macarena’s turn to pack his bags and go home. Because Pink Chadora came out victorious in the episode, much to the dislike of Clvoer, who had a few things to say about that. Still, the competition tightens ahead of the next episode, which will put more drama into the fight as the rivalries seem to tense up. The alliances could become a thing of the past as each and every one of these gentlemen seek the crown in their quest to perform just like a lady.
