Naoto hadn’t gotten easy with the gals of his high school, they aren’t even in the same grade, yet he is treated as their plaything. It would have been a bleak story if it was about him getting bullied, but the truth is far from it. Naoto is the poster girl for her smug face, and even some otaku wish there were more characters like her.
Naoto had tried to get adjusted to Nagataro and his girl, but his attempts kept on failing no matter what he did. With the return of this season, we are reminded, yet again, that as long as anime as a medium exists, there can be any type of dere.
As for Naoto’s case, he is at fault too, when it comes to his circumstances. He has superiority as their senior and yet he continues to be patient with them. But characters not realizing their faults is part of the comedy, no matter what the series.

Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro Season 2 Episode 5 had one of the most wholesome episodes in the series as Nagataro and Naoto gets closer to each other. The episode started with Nagataro asking her sister what to give someone on Christmas, to which her sister gave a gleeful smile. This is one of the few times we see Nagataro be on the defensive against someone’s tease. And it is also possible that she picked up the habit from her sister.
Nagataro decides on a muffler for Naoto. Meanwhile, Naoto has a dream where he is giving his present to her. He wakes up and looks at the present he had brought for her, uncertain of how he will give it to her.
The school does the final assembly before their winter break starts, and Naoto has to decide how he will give his present to her. And then, the usual routine began of Nagataro teasing Naoto till he couldn’t respond. However, this time both of them are self-conscious and notice each other presents, which turns out to be the same.
