This is a rather unique approach to the usual of having someone transported and making them a murder machine over time. And then there is also a low fantasy series where a tower gets summoned and modern society changes to tackle it, you get our drift.
The difference is in how the MC is out not to become someone who can kill anyone. Which in turn makes him someone who lives life differently and faces different challenges than other characters. And sometimes all a guy needs is the silent companionship of others to get through the worst of times. Such is the simplicity that few male characters enjoy, and it might even be envied by few though not all. However, the benefits and advantages over the other are a topic of discussion for another day.
The MC realized in the secluded cave the thing he needed to do if he were to ascend and gain prowess that would help him improve. And then the next few pages we are shown MC going through backstory and a bit of exposition. After this, the story explains the magic system and the things MC could use to grow stronger for the next stage.

Yeah, it is not gonna a big fire-breathing dragon fight or an epic showdown would bring in fortune and even fame. But, this MC is more about saving lives first and preventing disasters that would threaten the safety of the people.
And it can use a little romance here and there too, but we digress. Doc with Shibuya’s friend will be going on the search for the centipede to put an end to the rampage of the beast. It would be interesting if the monster would have phases and MC would have to fight a game boss. But, the showdown between the doctor and a beast will be different compared to what many action-loving readers are used to.
