Dickinson Season 3 Episode 6 may see the family reconnecting the dots that they blew recently. We were expecting the mid-season episode to go all lovey-dovey from the looks of its first half. But it turned the other way around by the end. So, Emily had her own fair share of happiness as she received a reply from someone who could help her change things through her poems. But that happiness gradually doubled when she found it was her father’s birthday and she wanted to make it special for the night.
So, The Dickinsons planned that they would have a family sing-along on their father’s birthday. But Emily Sr. wanted the entire family to be there for Edward. Despite their arguments in the past, the family did come together until a few shocking announcements and revelations tore them apart. Along with Dickinsons, we also had a glimpse of Henry teaching the soldiers something important about the war. Here is a look at everything that went down recently on the show before we move to Dickinson Season 3 Episode 6.
Dickinson S03 E05 Recap
Previously on Dickinson Season 3, we opened up with good news for Emily. Thomas Wentworth Higgins, an abolitionist, and Minister who writes for The Atlantic has written back to her. He has stood up for a change and has liked poems of Emily. He wants her to send more of them. Vinnie has taken a vow of silence in the solidarity of the troops and won’t be speaking until the end of the episode where an event shook her. Meanwhile, the bazaar in the town is at the celebration. We saw Emily Sr. forcing Edward to win back her Grandmother’s quilt they gave for auction when she found out they were selling it for too low.
Amidst all of this, Edward is confronted for writing a letter to an editor asking for sympathy on behalf of his brother, who lives in Georgie. He is asked to choose sides, but Edward doesn’t do that family. In this conversation, Edward came out to reveal about his birthday. But he isn’t a fan of people wishing him or celebrating. As the tense conversation ends, Emily believes they need to do something for their father on the birthday, and she comes up with an idea for a family sing-along. But Emily Sr. will only agree to it if the whole family comes.
So Susan and Austin need to come to make the Family sing-along possible even if they have kept their distance from their father. Recruiting Susan and Austin was not easy. Growing up, a baby worries Susan, and she was finding it very hard. Thanks to Emily, who pumped some spirit into her, and she agreed to come. Susan, in turn, tried to convince Austin, but they fought. She bought some sense into Austin, asking him to do something that his father would be proud of. She can’t have a drunk father around her baby.
So the sing-along came into play without Austin. The family played song after song and even shared some memories together, only until Austin, who surprisingly did come towards the end. But he came for an announcement and not a celebration or a toast. He is starting his own firm and would focus on divorces. He took an example from his marriage to Susan because he will be divorcing her first, taking full custody of their baby.
Emily tries to console Susan in her room. But by that time, Susan also found out about the letter of Higgins. It disappointed her more when she found out Emily sent Higgins the same poems she wrote for her. Thus crushing her to the core as the episode closes. Apart from that, we saw Henry teaching the soldier how knowledge and history are equally important to weapons in a war. We will find more on the same in Dickinson Season 3 Episode 6.
Dickinson Season 3 Episode 6 Release Date & Spoilers
Dickinson Season 3 Episode 6 will release on 26 November 2021. It is titled “A Little Madness In The Spring”. The official synopsis of the episode suggests that The Dickinsons are taking a family outing to the asylum. Well, not a great spot, but we hope this will help them build their relationship back, especially after the fallout that we saw on Edward’s Birthday. Austin was starting a firm of his own and began his career by divorcing Susan. Thus, he is also planning to take away their baby. We wonder if there is a reconciliation we can expect once a more sober Austin comes out.
Lastly, will Emily ever be able to reconcile with Susan after what she did? Will she continue the path that Thomas Higgins is taking her on? Apart from that, Henry, who has been teaching the soldiers for a while, has recently convinced them that they need to know the history before going into war. Weapons are on hold, but they are not everything they need. Well, the first steps to that might be coming as he helps them with the uniform inspection.
