Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc Episode 2 Recap.
In Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc Episode 2, we got to see the reveal of the Mist Hashira and the figure of the legendary swordsman, Yoriichi Tsugikuni.
Later the events unfold as the Mist Hashira, Muichiro Tokito, wants to force Kotetsu to give him the keys to unlock the mechanical doll and use it for training. But Kotetsu stubbornly declines Kotetsu as the mechanical doll is lost technology from the Sengoku era built by his ancestors, and there is no hope of fixing it if it’s broken.
But to no avail, Muichiro Tokito manages to overpower Kotetsu, who is just a kid, and Tanjiro, with his overwhelming prowess as a Hashira, and takes the mechanical doll forcefully.
As expected, the mechanical doll quickly breaks down and loses one of its arms while sparring against Muichiro Tokito and stops functioning. During these events, Kotetsu gets heartbroken because he knows that he doesn’t have the talent of sword smithing like his ancestors and starts swearing against himself, but our Tanjiro Kamado shows up to cheer him up, and they both become good friends.
Kotetsu, now with his newfound resolve, forces Tanjiro to undergo gruesome training with the mechanical doll replica of Yoriichi Tsugikuni, and they set their goal to surpass the Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito and give him a slap.
Tanjiro trains for days against the Mechanical doll without eating food or even sleeping. Even though the mechanical doll now only has five arms because Muichiro Tokito broke off one of them, Tanjiro Kamado still has a hard time fighting against the Mechanical doll replica of Yoriichi Tsugikuni.
After many days of fighting and even having close encounters with death, Tanjiro still had a hard time facing off against the Mechanical doll until he felt a glimpse of the “Selfless State,” which is a supernatural power that appears in extremely talented and well-trained demon slayers.
The selfless state allows one to completely get rid of their presence and gain extremely high levels of concentration during fights and increase their combat prowess by a large margin.
As Tanjiro gets a peek into the “Selfless state,” he manages to land a victory-deciding blow on the Mechanical doll replica of Yoriichi Tsugikuni after he gets assurance from Kotetsu that no matter how bad Tanjiro breaks it, he will fix it no matter what! As both Tanjiro and Kotetsu finally manage to defeat the mechanical doll with their joint efforts, they get startled by the sudden appearance of a sword inside the mechanical doll’s body.
Is it the “strongest sword” the village head mentioned to Tanjiro Kamado? Or is it the legendary swordsman Yoriichi Tsugikun’s personal weapon? We know for sure that it’s no ordinary sword, and what do you think happened to Tanjiro, which let him have the upper hand against the mechanical doll even though he was still injured and recovering? Was it because the mechanical doll was already on the brink of failure, Tanjiro achieved a selfless state? Or is it something else?
