French indie studio Unexpected and publisher Goblinz Publishing have announced that Deified, a new turn-based tactical roguelite built around relic combinations and strategic resource management, will launch on Steam on September 21, 2026. The game will be priced at $14.99, with a 20% launch discount available during its first two weeks.

Deified puts players in the role of Sator, who must confront seven powerful bosses after the Lords of the world corrupted the Gold of the Rhine. Their actions created relics capable of granting immense power while also carrying devastating curses, forcing players to carefully build their loadout and adapt their strategy throughout each run.

Rather than relying on traditional mana, action points or cooldown systems, Deified gives players the freedom to act every turn. The resulting combat system places greater emphasis on decision-making, relic combinations and how effectively players manage their limited slots.

Relics and Slot Management Drive Every Run

Relics form the foundation of Deified’s gameplay. Players can discover artifacts with different abilities, restore damaged relics by combining multiple identical fragments and create stronger effects by collecting relics belonging to the same type.

However, simply collecting powerful relics is not enough. Every relic requires a slot, and each slot provides both a benefit and a drawback. Players must therefore decide which combinations are worth keeping as they progress through procedurally structured runs.

The game also features skill trees and unlockable rooms that expand strategic possibilities between encounters. Meanwhile, each of the seven bosses comes with unique curses capable of disrupting established strategies and forcing players to rethink their builds.

Deified is being developed by Unexpected, a French indie studio founded in 2015, while Goblinz Publishing is handling the game’s publishing. The companies describe the project as a dark tactical experience designed around experimentation, strategic planning and replayability. The game will launch on Steam on September 21.
