The origin of Date A Live is a light novel series that lasted from 2011 to 2020. Coming as a collaboration of Koshi Tachibana (the writer) and Tsunako (the illustrator), it had 22 volumes as a light novel. While Fujimi Shobo took to the role of the publisher of the light novel, it was Kadokawa Shoten as the publisher along with Fujimi Shobo for the manga.
In English, it is Yen Press that does the work. In its 9 years of run as a light novel, Date A Live had an undeniably great performance in the genres of romance and comedy.
Along with its run as a light novel and manga, Date A Live also reached the point of receiving its own anime adaptation. AIC+ commenced the production of the Date A Live anime. In 2013, it was the start of Date A Live’s anime journey.
With 12 episodes in the first season, the show took off well under the direction of Keitaro Motonaga. Following the first season, there was no turning back. Date A Live went on to have three more seasons of its own. These seasons further went on to cement the show’s fandom. Funimation and Crunchyroll also helped Date A Live expand beyond Japan.

Date A Live Plot
The show’s story revolves around Shido Itsuka coming across a spirit. Shido’s adoptive sister tells him that the spirits are what cause the devastating phenomena of spatial quakes in Eurasia. Even Shido’s adoptive sister herself turns out to be the commander of an organization’s ship. Because Shido himself has the capability to seal the spirits’ powers, he is also accepted as the member of the organization. While it takes a spirit to fall in love with Shido and a kiss to make him seal the power of it, a powerful conglomerate owner backs the plan to eliminate spirits and use their powers. It was this unique storyline that managed to catch a lot of eyes and served the light novel, manga and anime really well.

Date A Live V in Making
In the fifth installment of Date A Live TV Anime, the key factor is that there is a decent number of staff from the previous season. This serves the show well in a way that familiarity is already there between the staff and the show itself. Jun Nakagawa is continuing as the show’s director. With Geek Toys to animate the new season yet again, the show is all set.
