Spike Chunsoft has officially delayed Danganronpa 2×2, pushing the game’s release from its planned 2026 launch window to early 2027. The announcement was made during Anime Expo 2026, marking the first major update on the title since it was revealed during a Nintendo Direct in September 2025.
In a statement addressing fans, producer Shohei Sakakibara confirmed that development is still progressing but the team has decided to extend the schedule.
“While development has been progressing toward a 2026 release, we have decided to move the launch to early 2027. We will share a more specific release date at a later time,”
Sakakibara said.
He added,
“We are continuing to work to bring you the best possible experience. We sincerely appreciate your patience as development continues.”
Spike Chunsoft did not provide a specific reason for the delay, though the statement suggests the additional development time is intended to improve the final product.
Originally announced during a Nintendo Direct presentation, Danganronpa 2×2 remains one of Spike Chunsoft’s most anticipated upcoming releases. A new release date is expected to be announced closer to launch.
