The highly anticipated second season of DAN DA DAN, based on Yukinobu Tatsu’s manga, was announced at Jump Festa ’25 with a teaser video featuring English subtitles, streamed by GKIDS.

Directed by Fuga Yamashiro and Abel Gongora, both returning from the first season, the new season is being produced by Science SARU.

It promises to reunite the cast from the previous installment. Fans can look forward to its premiere in July 2025, with Crunchyroll streaming the episodes as they air.

The first season of the anime debuted in Japan on October 3, airing on TBS and MBS’s Super Animeism TURBO programming block.

Globally, Netflix made the series available starting October 4. Comprising 12 episodes, the anime quickly gained a strong following.

A special theatrical event in the U.S., featuring the first three episodes, proved successful, earning over $1 million during its limited screening in September.

The production of the first season showcased an impressive team. Directed by Fuga Yamashiro, the anime featured Hiroshi Seko, known for his work on major series like Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man, as the script supervisor.

Music was composed by kensuke ushio, who brought his signature style to the score. Character and entity designs were handled by Naoyuki Onda and Yoshimichi Kameda, respectively, while hip-hop duo Creepy Nuts and ZUTOMAYO contributed memorable theme songs.

DAN DA DAN follows the story of Momo, a high school girl from a family of spirit mediums, and Okarun, a classmate obsessed with the occult.

Their opposing beliefs Momo dismisses aliens, while Okarun denies ghosts lead them to explore paranormal hotspots to prove their views.

What starts as an argument turns into an adventure, as they encounter unexplainable phenomena.

Through these events, Momo discovers her latent spiritual abilities, and Okarun gains a curse that grants him unique powers.

The series blends elements of supernatural battles, comedy, and teenage romance, delivering a fresh take on paranormal storytelling.

Momo and Okarun’s dynamic partnership drives the story, balancing thrilling action with heartfelt moments.

Their journey through bizarre and dangerous encounters gradually evolves into a deeper connection, adding a romantic element to the anime’s intrigue.

The original manga, serialized on Shonen Jump+, continues to grow in popularity. With the 18th volume set to release in January 2025, the series has a dedicated fanbase in Japan and abroad.

English-speaking audiences can enjoy the manga through Viz Media and MANGA Plus, which publish the chapters digitally and in print.

The upcoming anime season is expected to build on this success, bringing even more excitement to the DAN DA DAN.
