Impact of Season 1 of Jujutsu Kaisen
Anime watcher or not, manga reader or not, you have definitely heard of Jujutsu Kaisen. Jujutsu Kaisen will be labeled as the anime that re-defined shonen anime. Not only did it shake the anime community, but it also took the Western world by storm.
When was the last time you saw an American cosplay as an anime character? Well, now all you can see are Americans cosplaying as a JJK character or Demon Slayer character.
It put a stop to the sentence, “Anime is a cartoon,” and showed the entire world what animation can really do. The first season was nothing short of perfection. It gave us no room to complain and increased the standards for a shonen anime to unthinkable levels.
You may think, “Oh, it’s mainstream. It’s only popular because it went viral on social media.” But it went viral for a reason. Yes, it’s mainstream, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad; it’s actually very far from being bad.
Like Shingeki No Kyojin and Demon Slayer, JJK is rightfully rated and deserves all the hype it gets. From flawless animations to well-rounded characters and a great narrative, Jujutsu Kaisen will go on to become a staple in the anime world.
