Cruel Summer Season 2 Episodes 1 & 2 release date is sooner than ever. Fans have been overly excited for a new installment for ages, and it is finally here. The show focuses on a teen crime drama show where it is set in different timelines. The characters are depicted in three ways, the past, the present, and the future, which are all set in the mid-90s.
The story explores the case of Kate Wallis, who is kidnapped and then comes back again in. The years explored are 1993, 1994, and 1995. The other narrative of this story is shown by Jeannette Turner. The vice principal of the school where these kids study is the one who kidnaps Kate and keeps her in his basement.
It shows us a legal battle in 1995 between Kate and Jeanette. The latter was an awkward teenager whose life turned completely around after Kate disappeared. Part of why Kate blames Jeanette is because of the same and the fact that she completely started living in her shoes.
Cruel Summer Season 1 Recap
When Kate is found well and alive, she starts claiming to everyone and on media platforms that Jeannette saw her getting abducted a year ago but did nothing about it at all. This news spreads like wildfire, and Jeanette becomes the most hated person in the United States, thus destroying her reputation and mental health.
With every passing episode, we see the true story and the incidents unfold in front of us. No one knows who to believe, and it surely looks like Turner is hiding something about Kate. It even looks like that Kate is only revealing a fractured truth for her own benefit. Whatever is true isn’t disclosed to us yet. We also see the story oscillating between the point of view of Kate as well as Jeannette.
Back in the Cruel Summer Season 1 finale, we saw that a legal battle had finally begun between Kate and Jeannette. The latter is suing the former for defamation. As the lawyers present online chats of Kate, her honesty is questioned in front of the jury. She later calls Jeannette at Martin’s house, which is now empty, and tries to make her recall the day when she saw her locked up in the basement and did not notify anyone.
Soon, it becomes clear to them that it was Mallory who saw Kate and not Jeannette. By the end of the episode, Kate comes forward with the news of Jeanette’s innocence and instead accuses Mallory and even confronts her. As Mallory explains her side of the story, the two make up and kiss. On The Marsha Bailey Show, Jeanette forgives Kate.
