Crimson Desert Gets HDR10+ Gaming Support to Improve Lighting, Contrast, and HDR Presentation

Crimson Desert has officially joined a growing group of games supporting HDR10+ Gaming, giving Pearl Abyss’ open-world action RPG another display technology designed to improve its already ambitious visuals.

According to HDR10+ Technologies, Crimson Desert is one of nine titles that have recently adopted or are confirmed to receive HDR10+ Gaming support. Unlike several of the other newly announced games, Crimson Desert already has the feature enabled.

The announcement also includes Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, which will become the fifth Call of Duty game to support HDR10+ Gaming. Other confirmed titles include REANIMAL, The Sinking City 2, Gray Zone Warfare, 1001 Threads of Mizan, AWAYSIS, Causal Loop, and F1 25 2026 Season Pack.

What HDR10+ Gaming Means for Crimson Desert

HDR10+ Gaming is designed to provide more precise HDR presentation by supplying additional image information that compatible displays can use for dynamic tone mapping. The technology is intended to preserve details in bright and dark areas while maintaining the colors, contrast, lighting, and atmosphere chosen by developers.

That could be particularly relevant for Crimson Desert, which places a major emphasis on detailed environments, lighting, weather, and large-scale landscapes. Pearl Abyss developed the game using its proprietary BlackSpace Engine, with the title featuring a seamless open world filled with wilderness, cities, ruins, and varied environments. 

HDR10+ Gaming is also designed to reduce the need for players to manually calibrate HDR settings. According to the official HDR10+ Gaming FAQ, the technology performs tone mapping within the game engine and does not add display processing latency. 

The addition of Crimson Desert comes as HDR10+ Gaming continues expanding across major games and hardware. The official HDR10+ website currently lists 18 supported games, including Cyberpunk 2077, Red Dead Redemption 2, Battlefield 6, Borderlands 4, and multiple Call of Duty titles.

For Crimson Desert players with compatible Samsung TVs or monitors, the feature provides another option for experiencing Pearl Abyss’ visually demanding RPG with HDR presentation designed specifically around supported displays.
