Control Resonant generated $12.7 million on Steam in less than a week, with nearly 300,000 copies sold on Valve’s platform, according to estimates from Alinea Analytics. The game launched on September 24, 2026, meaning the figures cover only its first several days of availability. Including pre-launch sales, Control Resonant had generated nearly $15 million on Steam during the period covered by the September data.
The early performance is notable for a sequel arriving several years after the original Control. Remedy Entertainment’s latest game expands the franchise with Dylan Faden as its protagonist, taking players into a warped version of Manhattan as a new paranormal threat spreads across the city. The game combines third-person action, supernatural abilities, exploration and RPG elements.
Before launch, Remedy announced that Control Resonant had surpassed 2 million wishlists across all platforms, indicating substantial interest ahead of its September release. The developer also described it as its most ambitious game to date.
Strong Player Engagement Adds to Its Early Success
The game’s initial Steam performance goes beyond its sales figures. According to Alinea Analytics, around 41% of Steam players had previously played the original Control. That means a majority of the game’s early Steam audience had apparently not played its predecessor.
The original Control’s previous one-year Epic Games Store exclusivity may help explain that figure. Players who missed Remedy’s first supernatural action game during its earlier PC availability window now have an opportunity to enter the franchise through its latest release.

Player engagement has also been strong. More than half of Control Resonant players have spent at least 10 hours with the game, while approximately 25% have played for more than 20 hours. The game also currently holds a Very Positive rating on Steam, with around 90% of user reviews positive at the time of writing.
Control Resonant continues Remedy’s focus on surreal environments, supernatural powers and interconnected storytelling while expanding the setting beyond the original game’s Oldest House. The developer has also emphasized accessibility, including an expanded Assist Mode that allows players to adjust aspects of the experience without locking achievements behind those settings.
With nearly 300,000 Steam copies sold, $12.7 million generated in less than a week, nearly $15 million including pre-launch sales, a 90% positive review rate and strong playtime figures, Control Resonant has established an encouraging early commercial and player response. Its continued performance will show whether Remedy can turn that strong opening into a long-term success for the Control franchise.
