Comedians Jon Richardson and Lucy Beaumont are parting ways after nine years of marriage, as announced in a joint statement.
The couple, known for their roles in Meet The Richardsons since 2020, portray “exaggerated versions of themselves” in a “fictional view of their life together”. The show recently returned for its fifth series on Dave’s UKTV on 8 April.
In their statement, they affirmed the decision was reached “jointly and amicably”.
“After nine years of marriage, we would like to announce that we have separated,” they each posted on Instagram.
“We have jointly and amicably made the difficult decision to divorce and go our separate ways.
“As our only priority is managing this difficult transition for our daughter, we would ask that our privacy is respected at this sensitive time to protect her well-being.
“We will be making no further comment.”
Raising Funds Jointly
The duo has also graced Channel 4’s Celebrity Gogglebox. Beaumont, amidst her live tour, earned a nomination for best female performance in a comedy program at the previous year’s Baftas for her role in Meet The Richardsons.
Her presence extends to comedy panel shows like Would I Lie To You?, The Last Leg, and Have I Got News For You.Richardson, a former team captain on 8 Out Of 10 Cats, boasts appearances on various panel shows.
In 2018, he introduced Jon Richardson: Ultimate Worrier, where he and guests explored their anxieties, airing on Dave for two series.
Additionally, he co-hosted with Russell Howard on BBC Radio 6 Music.
In a joint effort last year, the comedians joined forces with Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill and Dan Walker to spearhead a campaign targeting children’s mental health improvement in Sheffield.
In 2022, Richardson and Beaumont rallied to raise over £12,000 for families affected by the cost-of-living crisis.
Their contribution included a fundraising gig at Netherthorpe School in Chesterfield, where Beaumont, a former teacher, expressed their desire to aid struggling families.
