After months of rumors and speculations. From news going hot and cold and much more. Cody Rhodes made his heavily rumored return to WWE at Wrestlemania 38. As speculated, Cody did come out as the mystery opponent of Seth Rollins. The WWE Universe gave the former AEW Superstar the deserved reception as he came back home to WWE.
Cody Rhodes came walking out to his theme ‘Kingdom,’ which he used in AEW. The fans of AEW & WWE heard the familiar sound to freak out as the American Nightmare came out. Cody Rhodes went on to defeat Seth Rollins to make his presence felt again to the WWE Universe.
Cody Rhodes left AEW along with his wife Brandi Rhodes in the month of February 2022 after failing to negotiate another contract. Cody’s highly acclaimed ladder match with Sammy Guevara for the TNT title turned out to be his final match for the promotion.
Since then, rumors of Cody Rhodes probably jumping back to WWE have come into the air. There were also rumors of him going to ROH or some other promotion. With Tony Khan buying ROH, fans had also speculated he might lead an invasion, but no. News had broken that Cody Rhodes had signed a contract with WWE. Still, both the parties kept the confirmation heavily guarded.
The fans weren’t ready to believe it until they saw Cody Rhodes in person at a WWE Event. Days closing to Wrestlemania 38, Seth Rollins was lost in the shuffle looking for a match at WrestleMania. We saw him struggling and trying to steal a match from the likes of AJ Styles and Kevin Owens.

From there on, fans began speculating that this storyline may lead Rollins to face the returning Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 38, the biggest event of WWE. It was a matter of time. Vince McMahon heard Rollins’s request for a match and told him that he would face a mystery opponent of his choice. The return had become obvious, but we and fans didn’t believe it until we saw Cody Rhodes walking at the grandest stage of all this Saturday.
