Players worldwide are unable to play Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 online, and the company is not helping them. Instead, the parent company behind the best-selling title, Activision, is blaming the players for this error. Yes, you read that right; they blame the players for the error.
Though the servers show multiple errors like “too many players” or “please try again later,” the basic gist is that the players will have to wait indefinitely before the company even acknowledges the situation. This issue comes right after the shutdown that happened in July 2022; Activision shut down Singapore & UAE servers without any prior update. As a result, the players from South Asia & Middle East were stranded and unable to play the game with low latency; the players reported that they were getting 180 to 250ms ping while playing the game as they were being put into German servers, which are now gone too.
An Abandoned Fanbase of a Greedy Company
The recent incident has certainly shed light on how the company would respond to player support requests. Without having a campaign mode, the players are basically left clueless, as the error TOO MANY PLAYERS remains glaring across the screens. Other players are not even able to find a single playable lobby. Across the globe, thousands of players are facing this issue, and many players have reached out to Activision but are getting a similar corporate response: “Please check your interest connection,” “Please open your NAT type,” and “Please use a wired connection.” The company is blaming the players that it is the issue with their connection and not the game. Certainly, thousands of players cannot have the same problem with their internet connection on the same day.
The team from Otakukart had also reached out for an answer but received the same reply, regardless. It seems that the team at Activision is keen on keeping a low profile and does not want to fix this issue.
At the moment, for thousands of players, the game is virtually non-existent, and they are in a user-hosted lobby where their IP address is visible to users with advanced routers. And to add insult to the injury, Activision is still selling Call of Duty Black Ops 4 on all available platforms, from PC to consoles, despite having no active server. Without a campaign mode, buyers would be left with a game that is entirely useless, as they cannot play the game they bought. While this is illegal to sell a product without use in many countries, Activision continues to sell the broken game for $59.99 for the normal version & $99.99 for the deluxe version.
