Chris Jones, a top defensive player for the Kansas City Chiefs, has shown support for his teammate Harrison Butker after Butker faced criticism for his recent comments.
Butker got criticized for what he said at the graduation ceremony of Benedictine College. He talked about Pride Month in a negative way and said it’s important to stick to traditional family roles.
In his speech, Butker highlighted his wife’s fulfillment as a homemaker, which he said allowed him to succeed as the family’s provider, as well as a husband and father.
The Chief’s Heiress Gracie Hunt Has Supported Harrison Butker As Well
“I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolic lies told to you,” he said.
“Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.
I can tell you that my beautiful wife Isabelle would be the first to say her life truly started when she began living her vocation as a wife and mother.”
The speech has caused significant backlash, with a petition to cut Butker from the Chiefs now approaching 200,000 signatures.
However, Butker has received support from some key figures, including Chris Jones.
“I love you, @buttkicker7! My brotha,” Jones tweeted, sharing a post criticizing the petition.

Although the NFL has distanced itself from Butker’s comments, the Chiefs have not yet made any public statements.
