It is a sad day indeed as soap opera actress Rebecca Balding has passed away. The devastating news was further confirmed by her husband, actor and director James L. Conway. She was 73 years old. The actress was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. Balding has an impressive background as she studied acting at the University of Kansas before moving to Chicago, and was an award-winning stage actress she eventually made the move to Los Angeles, and went on to pursue an acting career in Hollywood.
Rebecca Balding Has Starred In Several Television Series
Rebecca Balding starred in the sitcom Makin’ It and went on to portray his daughter Julie in the classic Christmas TV film, The Gathering, as well as the movie’s sequel. Balding also played the role of a female reporter Carla Mardigian opposite Ed Asner in Lou Grant. Other than that, Balding’s most memorable roles can be seen on the small screen, as she played Billy Crystal’s girlfriend on Soap and Alyssa Milano’s boss in Charmed.
Rebecca Balding’s other television roles include Melrose Place, Beverly Hills, 90210, Family Ties and Home Improvement. The actress’ final credited acting role was on a 2006 episode of Charmed, that was titled “Kill Billie: Vol. 2.” In addition to her husband Conway, Rebecca Balding is survived by her daughters, Sarah and Kathleen, and her grandchildren.
Balding’s husband recalled how the two were meant to be as he revealed how he was casting the film, The Boogens, and Rebecca came in to audition. Conway added that they chatted and read, and when she left, he turned to the associate producer and said, that he might just marry this girl! Conway further revealed how Rebecca eventually got cast, and they went out during the first week of shooting they went out and, while still shooting, got married! The director admitted that while no one thought it would last but it was 41 years ago!
