Cell to Singularity is expanding beyond the history of life and technological development with its upcoming The Future expansion, developed in collaboration with renowned futurist and science educator Isaac Arthur. Announced by independent developer Computer Lunch, the expansion explores how humanity could evolve over the next 100 years, examining emerging technologies and scientific possibilities that could reshape civilization.

Scheduled to launch on November 11, 2026, Cell to Singularity: The Future will be available on PC through Steam, iOS, and Android. The update introduces five distinctive story branches, more than 200 unlockable elements, revamped visuals, and over 100 hours of additional content. It also brings significant gameplay improvements to the free-to-play incremental simulation game, which has a community of more than one million monthly active players.

Rather than limiting its simulation to humanity’s established scientific achievements, the expansion invites players to investigate possible developments in artificial intelligence, space exploration, biotechnology, and environmental restoration.

Cell to Singularity: The Future Explores Five Possible Paths for Humanity

The expansion examines several major areas of scientific and technological development, presenting different possibilities for civilization during the next century. Its five story branches explore space exploration, human augmentation, artificial intelligence, planetary restoration, and other emerging technologies.

Players will investigate questions such as whether reusable rockets could make space tourism commonplace, how technology might enhance the human body, and whether artificial general intelligence could eventually match or surpass human intelligence.

The expansion also examines Earth’s environmental challenges, including whether future generations will prioritize restoring the planet or developing settlements on other worlds through terraforming.

Computer Lunch has worked with Isaac Arthur to establish a scientific foundation for these scenarios. Arthur, who has more than one million subscribers, is president of the National Space Society, an organization promoting human space exploration.

His research combines emerging scientific developments, published studies, and long-term technological projections to make the expansion’s futuristic concepts more grounded.

Andrew Garrahan, co-founder and CEO of Computer Lunch, emphasized the importance of maintaining scientific credibility.

“It is really important to us that the update is grounded in scientific fact. That’s something our players have come to expect in our game so we want to make sure we deliver on that promise, even if the content is more speculative by nature.”

Arthur also explained the philosophy behind the expansion, stating, “While the future is unknown, the Future expansion is rooted in information we know today and tackles true problems we know humanity will face in the coming century.”

New Gameplay Features and 100+ Hours of Content

Beyond its futuristic scenarios, The Future introduces several gameplay improvements designed to expand progression.

The Prediction Matrix will allow players to accelerate their progress, while a revamped Mission System introduces additional milestones and objectives. The update also includes new Reality Engine upgrades, more than 200 unlockable elements, and improved visuals.

Music from Philip Sheppard and Melodysheep will accompany the expansion, adding a new audio experience to its futuristic environments.

According to Computer Lunch, the expansion will offer more than 100 hours of additional content and arrive through multiple releases, allowing players to explore further into the game’s late stages.

The developer has also outlined five new visions, each introducing its own generator and speculative technology nodes. Players will eventually need to complete all five visions to unlock Singularity again.

Cell to Singularity: The Future launches November 11, 2026, on PC through Steam, iOS, and Android.

The expansion will support 17 languages, including English, Japanese, French, German, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Italian, Korean, Chinese, Ukrainian, Thai, Turkish, and Vietnamese.
