Capcom has reported a strong start to its 2026 fiscal year, with its new sci-fi action title Pragmata surpassing 2.5 million copies sold within its first three months. The milestone was revealed in the company’s Q1 FY2026 financial results, highlighting an impressive debut for a brand-new intellectual property without an established fanbase.
The publisher also reported significant year-over-year growth in both revenue and operating profit, reflecting the commercial success of several recent releases. According to Capcom’s Q1 FY2026 Financial Results, the company remains on track to meet its full-year earnings forecast.
Pragmata delivers a successful debut for Capcom
Unlike franchises such as Resident Evil or Monster Hunter, Pragmata entered the market as an entirely original IP. That makes its 2.5 million sales milestone particularly notable, especially after years of delays before its eventual release.
The game combines third-person shooting, environmental puzzles, and hacking mechanics while following the story of Hugh and the android Diana on a mysterious lunar research station. Critics praised its emotional narrative and gameplay systems, helping it establish a positive reputation after launch.

The sales figures suggest Capcom’s investment in a fresh franchise has paid off, demonstrating that original games can still attract a large audience when backed by strong gameplay and production values.
Capcom credited multiple releases for its strong financial performance. The company stated that Resident Evil Requiem, which has now sold more than 8 million copies, and the Devil May Cry animated series helped drive overall sales and expand interest in its gaming catalog.
The publisher reported 54.7% year-over-year growth in net sales and a 66.9% increase in operating profit, marking a significant turnaround compared to the previous fiscal year when weaker-than-expected Monster Hunter Wilds sales affected quarterly results.
With Pragmata exceeding expectations and flagship franchises continuing to perform well, Capcom has begun 2026 on a strong commercial footing while reinforcing confidence in both new and established properties.
