Fans hoping to play Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 on Nintendo Switch may be left waiting indefinitely. According to Call of Duty insider CharlieIntel, there are currently no plans to release Nintendo Switch versions of the recently launched PlayStation ports.

The report comes shortly after Activision released the classic Call of Duty titles on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, allowing players to revisit the original campaigns, multiplayer, and Zombies modes on Sony’s latest consoles.

Nintendo Switch versions reportedly not in development

CharlieIntel stated that there are no Nintendo Switch ports planned for either Black Ops title at this time. The report also noted that there are no new releases planned for Xbox or PC, leaving the PlayStation versions as the only newly available ports.

No official explanation has been provided regarding the absence of Nintendo Switch versions. With the arrival of Nintendo Switch 2, many players have questioned whether the hardware would be capable of running the games. However, neither Activision nor its development partners have announced plans to expand the releases beyond PlayStation.

The newly released versions are straightforward ports, not remasters or remakes. Developed in collaboration with Iron Galaxy, they include the original campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies experiences.

Players should note that the ports do not introduce modern enhancements such as 120 FPS support, an FOV slider, or graphical upgrades. Additionally, downloadable content is sold separately, meaning Season Passes and DLC packs must be purchased independently.

Although some fans have criticized the pricing and lack of new features, the releases provide a convenient way for PlayStation users to revisit two of the most popular entries in the Call of Duty franchise.
