Pawan Kalyan is a South Indian actor who has a huge fan following base. And when his movies come, it creates tremendous hype. In his recent movie BRO, Pawan Kalyan takes on one of the lead roles. Usually, when Pawan Kalyan’s movies are approaching their release dates, there is significant excitement and online chatter.
However, this particular movie BRO seems to be missing the usual level of enthusiasm and anticipation. Directed by Samuthirakani, the movie is slated for a worldwide big-screen release on July 28, 2023. According to recent media interactions, TG Vishwa Prasad, the film’s producer, confirmed that they do not intend to increase ticket prices for “Bro” in either Andhra Pradesh or Telangana.
The ongoing hike in ticket price dilemma
The initial week holds great importance for blockbuster movies featuring top-notch actors. Given the substantial investments made in film production, maximizing box office earnings in the initial week becomes very crucial. To achieve this goal, producers consider the option of raising ticket prices. However, due to regulations imposed by the government of Telugu states, ticket prices cannot be increased arbitrarily.

Instead, price hikes for high-budget films necessitate official approval from the government. Presently, producers are required to submit applications to both the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments during the release of major movies, where they will be thoroughly reviewed before permission is granted to raise the ticket prices.
The government of the Telugu states has granted permission to increase tickets for major movies budget like ‘Waltheru Veeraiya,’ ‘Veerasimha Reddy’ and ‘Adipurush,’ which were released this year. However, the upcoming movie, “Bro,” starring Pawan Kalyan and Supreme Hero Saidharam Tej, is set to hit theatres on the 28th of this month. Considering the involvement of the superstar Pawan Kalyan himself, the film’s budget is likely to be enormous.
Although raising ticket prices could potentially help the movie reach its budget target faster, producer TG Vishwa Prasad has stated that they do not intend to increase ticket prices for their film. In a recent media interview, Vishwa Prasad stated that their film “Bro” was successfully completed within the initially planned budget. He made it clear that there is no intention to increase the ticket prices, and they have not approached either of the state governments for permission to do so.
They want to release the movie at current ticket prices. However, this decision has faced significant criticism, with arguments suggesting that the request to maintain the current ticket prices might not have been approved by the AP government.
Why are directors and producers not increasing ticket prices?
It seems that TG Vishwaprasad’s decision not to increase ticket prices for the movie “Bro” is driven by a different factor – Pawan Kalyan’s political involvement and criticism of the AP chief minister, YS Jaganmohan Reddy, and his government.
Given the ongoing verbal clashes between Janasena (Pawan Kalyan’s political party) and the YCP (YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s party), many people speculate that the decision not to seek permission to raise ticket prices was made with the awareness that the government might not approve such a request for Pawan Kalyan’s movie.
Keeping aside the matter, the movie “Bro” is an adaptation of the Tamil film ‘Vinodaya Sittam,’ with P.Samudrakhani directing both the Tamil and Telugu versions. Renowned screenwriter and director Trivikram Srinivas contributed to the screenplay and wrote the lyrics for the Telugu version. The lead role, previously portrayed by Samudrakhani in the Tamil version, is played by Pawan Kalyan in the Telugu adaptation.
Ketika Sharma and Priya Prakash Warrier are cast as the female leads in the movie, while Thaman composed the music. The film is produced by TG Vishwaprasad under the banner of People Media Factory, with Vivek Kuchibhotla as the co-producer.
