The weekly wait for eager fans of the trending K-Pop survival show – Boys Planet is finally over as the last, but definitely, not least, episode 12 of the series is just around the corner. This male version of the infamous Girls Planet 999 (2021) gave rise to a new girl group, namely Kep1er. Following the fame of this version of the show, the creators launched the latest one this year in 2023, the first episode premiering on 2nd February.
The show follows the spatial theme in which two groups- Group K and Group G- represent two planets. These wannabe male idols worldwide were collected and given a platform to contest for a prestigious position in a newly forming global boy band. Following the reality series since the first episode, fans have been on their toes with anticipation and stress as the challenges for the contestants get tougher and elimination rounds bid farewell to some, their journey in the show ending there.
M-net, a popular channel for K-Pop shows and programs, is the official network hosting Boys Planet, aiming to create and launch a fifth-generation group onto the international stage. In the last airing episode, 18 finalists were announced from the 28 trainees who will proceed to participate in the final live broadcast of the show as announced in the rating list by the newest star master Jeon Somi.

BOYS PLANET – Show Premise
Mnet’s latest project for a fifth-generation male idol group’s debut on an international level invited entries from all over the world, increasing the competition’s hype, value, and difficulty. The trainee survival program utilized a space theme, making two planets (Group G and Group K) and dividing 98 contestants into 49 each.
Laden with tough challenges, the show provided a platform for the talented trainees to showcase their passion and skills to woo the audience and win votes to maintain their position in the show. The elimination rounds greatly enhanced the risk factor, making the success components all the more valuable and hard to attain. In this arduous journey, the boys are fortunately not entirely alone as they have experienced industry experts to mentor them, the 8 Star masters and of course, the Start Creators!
The Star Masters are the MCs, that is, the anchors in the show, bridging the communication between the contestants and the viewers, creating an entertaining ambiance. Boys Planet consists of popular artists of the K-Pop world who host the show’s announcements- Hwang Min Hyun, Sunmi, Yeo Jin Goo, Lee Minhyuk (BTOB), Key (SHINee, 2 am’s Jo Kwon, solo star Jeon Somi and former Wanna One member turned soloist, Kim Jae Hwan. Hwang Min Hyun is expected to return to host the series’ finale episode.

The voting lines for the final mission closed on 14th April at 10 am KST, with the live broadcast of the finale set for the next releasing episode, which will be conducted in Jamsil Arena, Seoul.
