For every K-Pop stan in need of new tea, Korean variety shows have a great time wrapped in gold for you. With great visuals and every music genre covered for the fans with every needed bromance and beautiful criers. So was GIRLS PLANET 999 that aired from 6th August, 2021 to 22nd October 2021.
During the Mnet Asian Music Awards 2021, Mnet announced that the auditions of BOYS PLANET, the male version of GIRLS PLANET 999, were going to commence from December 11th, 2021. The first round of selection lasted till June 27th, 2023. Whereas the second round of the variety show was held from June 27th, 2022, to August 21st, 2022.
Mnet released the 1st episode of BOYS PLANET on February 2nd, 2023, 20:00 hrs (10:00 p.m.) every Thursday (Korean Standard Time). But from its 3rd episode that was released on February 16th, 2023, the timings for the show were changed to 20:50 (10:50 p.m.) Korean Standard Time every Thursday. The 1st episode of BOYS PLANET had a viewership of 0.379% but its 7th episode had the highest viewership of 0.89%.
The show BOYS PLANET allowed international participation, unlike GIRLS PLANET, with 98 contestants selected for its 1st elimination round. The participants then split into K-Group and G-Group, with K-Group all the korean participants and G-Group the international contestants. Thus, the show is made up of Planets, the K- Group and G-Group, the 7 Masters who host the show, and the audience, the star creators who vote for their favorite trainees. The contestants pass rounds showing their powers in singing, dancing & rapping.

Star Masters are mentors to the contestants and are responsible for judging them:

The show also welcomed Yeo Jin Goo, Hwang Min Hyun, Sunmi, Lee Min Hyuk, Bobby, Key, and Son Dong Myung previously for a few episodes as Star Masters.
BOYS PLANET Episode 9: Sum Up
The BOYS PLANET 9th episode was released on 30th March 2023 with a viewership of 0.865%. After the second elimination, the trainees said goodbye to their friends with salted teardrops. With five of the teams coming to the studio.

There are five teams left, and all of them had to go through a reshuffle. From the team “En Grade,” seven out of seven trainees survived the last elimination, but the team is supposed to be a six-member team. The “Over Me” team has eight members right now, but there is only space for five people in the team, so three of them need to get removed. All ten members of “Say My Name” survived, but there were supposed to be five members in the group.
On the other hand, team “Switch” is now left with only two members Na Camden and Zhang Shuai Bo surviving and needs four more members while they once used to be the biggest team. So is “Super Charger” struggling with only Haruto left?
But now, if the teams that exceed the maximum capacity of members can eliminate their teammates. The eliminated members can pick a team among the ones that need more members. Haruto from “Super Charger ” and Na Camden and Zhang Shuai from “Switch” pitch themselves to recruit members for their team from other groups.
Park Han Bin serves a total shock by voluntarily leaving the team as he thinks he is not as good as others and decides to join “Switch”.
Over Me voted out the members, Wang Zi Hao, Keita, and at last, Yoon Jong Woo was voted out. Yoon Jong Woo was disappointed as he says that he worked so hard, stayed up all night thinking and sorting things out as the leader, and also came up with a schedule, thus making him feel sad about the decision.
From team “Say My Name,” Sung Han Bin becomes the first person to leave, following Takuto, Ollie, Kim Tae Rae(who volunteered to leave), Seo Won, and Cha Woong Gi. Kim Tae Rae voluntarily leaves and joins Switch.
At last, after reshuffling in the BOYS PLANET episode, the members and groups were arranged as follows:
- Switch- Yoon Jong Woo, Park Han Bin, Kim Tae Rae, Na Camden, Zhang Shuai Bo, Keita completed with Tae Rae
- Super Charger, Seo Won, Cha Woong Ki, Haruto, Takuto, Wang Zi Hao, Ollie Haruto great support, as well as Wang Zi Hao
- Over Me Lee Jeong Hyeon, Zhang Hao, Ricky, Jay, Chen Kuan Ju
- Say My Name- Sung Han Bin, Han Yoo Jin, Kim Ji Woong, Yoo Seung Eon, Seok Matthew
- En Garde- Kim Gyu Vin, Park Gun Wook, Lee Hoe Taek, Kim Joon Hyun, Lee Seung Hwan, Hiroto
The following Artist Battle’s performances simply sucked in the fans. But Haruto won with 852 and scored 1st place from En Garde.
BOYS PLANET Episode 10: Spoiler
The BOYS PLANET episode 10 will be about 2 hrs long. Next week looks to be the finishing of the third round and the announcement of the winners. Also, there were random sections of temporary rankings. Cha Woong Ki takes a high jump to 18th position, Ricky makes his way to the debut line up at ranks at 8th, whereas Kim Cuben dropped out of the debut lineup to his new 16th showing small sections of ranking the next elimination might show us the impacts of filler votes.
