Blue Archive could grow into a broader multimedia franchise as Nexon prepares to take over Japanese publishing from Yostar. In an interview with Korean gaming outlet Game Focus, producer Yong-ha Kim discussed the company’s ambitions for the intellectual property, including adaptations in other media and potential games exploring different genres.
The comments come shortly after Nexon announced that it would assume publishing responsibilities for the Japanese version of Blue Archive. The transition is intended to bring development, operations, publishing, and intellectual property expansion under a more unified structure involving Nexon and its development subsidiary, NEXON Games.
Nexon Wants to Expand Blue Archive Beyond Mobile Gaming
Kim said Nexon is interested in exploring manga, novels, and games from different genres to increase the franchise’s visibility. Although no specific projects have been confirmed, the possibilities discussed suggest the company wants to give fans more ways to experience the world and characters of Blue Archive beyond the existing RPG.
Among the ideas Kim hopes to explore are a third-person shooter, a deserted-island survival game, and a strategy RPG featuring characters from the franchise. These concepts remain possibilities rather than announced projects, and Nexon has not provided release dates or development details for any of them.

The potential expansion could help the franchise reach audiences who prefer different styles of gameplay or storytelling. However, the company has yet to reveal which ideas, if any, will move into production.
Kim also expressed interest in expanding Fareidolia, an upcoming 3D anime-style game being developed by Nexon Games’ IO division. The project was previously known as Project RX and is expected to offer an experience distinct from Blue Archive.
Although detailed gameplay information remains limited, Fareidolia’s isekai setting and colourful cast of characters could provide a foundation for future storytelling and merchandise opportunities. Kim’s comments indicate an interest in developing Nexon’s intellectual properties beyond their original games, although no specific multimedia adaptations for Fareidolia have been announced.
According to Nexon’s official announcement, the Japanese publishing transition was announced on October 25, 2026, with the change scheduled for January 2027. The company plans to coordinate development, live operations, publishing, and franchise expansion more closely following the transition.
Players’ existing account data, items, and in-game currency are expected to carry over through a transfer process that Nexon will explain separately. The company has also scheduled a discussion between Kim and Yostar president Heng-da Li for November 2026 to address the franchise’s future.
For now, manga, novels, and additional games remain ambitions rather than confirmed releases. Whether those ideas become reality will depend on Nexon’s future announcements and development plans.
