Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War is heading into its final cour, and fans can expect more than just a straight manga adaptation. In recent comments, creator Tite Kubo confirmed that completely new fight scenes—exclusive to the anime—will appear in Cour 4. These additions are being created under his direct supervision, including full storyboard input.
This marks one of the most hands-on roles Kubo has taken since Bleach returned in animated form. He noted that some of the original content is meant to expand character matchups that were rushed or skipped in the manga’s endgame. Viewers can expect deeper rivalries, longer battles, and moments that never made it to print.
Kubo’s Return to Creative Control

In a special Jump interview, Kubo explained that his return to the storyboard phase stemmed from fan interest in seeing more from characters who were underused in the final arc. He acknowledged he didn’t have enough pages to give everyone their due back then—but the anime lets him fix that.
Kubo promised these new scenes won’t feel like filler. Instead, he’s writing and shaping them to align with canon. “These fights were always in my mind, but I didn’t have the chance to draw them,” he said. Studio Pierrot is animating them with Kubo’s feedback on choreography, dialogue, and pacing.
Characters like Shinji Hirako, Bambietta, and others who had short-lived screen time in the manga are expected to benefit most. Leaks suggest one upcoming battle will feature an extended fight sequence that fans speculated about for years—but never saw on the page.
Hype Builds Ahead of the Final Cour

With Cour 3 ending on a high note, anticipation for Cour 4 has never been higher. Fans are excited not only to see the climactic battles between Ichigo and Yhwach but also these original confrontations that deepen the world. Kubo’s involvement has given longtime readers hope that the anime will refine and complete what the manga left open.
While a release date for Cour 4 has not yet been announced, production updates indicate the team is focused on polish and pacing. With Kubo writing new fights, viewers can expect more emotionally charged duels, surprise pairings, and sharper animation than ever. The last stretch of Bleach promises to end with impact—and now, with surprises.
